It proved that the majority of our fanbase have not got the first clue about football, let alone their own Club.

The current clamour about CL and some of the players who were prejudged before their arrival further enforces that.

Still lets sack him and get someone like Peter Reid in who did a marvellous job at Coventry and Leeds, how about Mike Newell seeing as his stock is dipping or Dave Bassett will soon be available lets get him back.

Its my view that your last sentence sums up your knowledge of football. Reid and Bassett (had their day) would be no better than CL (will have his day) as manager maybe handy as back room staff but as for your suggestion regarding managers I would put you in the category of the statement you made in your first sentence.

Further if you sacked CL today I would suggest that this time next season Reid and Bassett would be in the same situation having changed the squad to suit their styles. No one would be better of and no doubt you would be calling for their heads as well. I cant speak for Newell as I haven't been following him as a manager but the same point remains and that is that this time next year his squad would be different and you would be calling for his head as well.

I can see an improvement in the way the current squad of players are performing together. Yes there are many team changes and players playing out of position and thats because CL is trying to find a blend that suits his style. Only time will tell with CL but I am encouraged as to his progess so far even with negitives coming from quarters you support.

But for Gods sake dont stop going down the City as your points are as valid as what mine are. We just have different opinions which is the best thing about this fantastic club.

...apart from results...

Having a blueprint may be one thing - achieving its aims is another.

I think that's where some of us differ from you (and the anti-CL brigade) is that we see the team slowly but surely achieving these aims. Every time I see City play I see a slightly better overall performance than the last.

The only notable exception is a couple of instances of lack of concentration and/or positional sense in defence and some poor goalkeeping - this, to me, has been our only real failing over the last six weeks.

It's true the results haven't really been acceptable. There's been more than a couple of games that we should have put to bed and, given the way we've played, it's infuriating that we're not in the top half of the table at this time of the year.

That said, I don't think it's time yet to lay down any kind of final judgement on CL or any other member of the team. Unless things go really badly for the rest of the season the time to judge, for me at least, will be this time next year.

Those of you more impatient for results might want to wait until the end of February, see what new signings have been brought in and see how well they're doing. Given the improvements on the field in recent games you should at least give him that.

Hey Mick, glad to see someone else prowling the foums in the small hours... :P

[psssst... BartonFox was being sarcastic about Reid, Bassett etc... he actually shares the same views as you in regard to CL]

Thanks Chimp for the heads up.................... :o:o:o;)

Ohhhhh no Apologies to Barton Fox I read your post all wrong. I actually thought you were suggesting sack CL now! Given that you were not and you dident mean Reid and Bassett to replace him I think you know more about the game after all!

I will have a cold tinny tonight in your honour to reflect upon my mistake.

It would be a huge mistake to have Peter Reid as manager of this club, the others - maybe. Ive always been a supporter of CL and he still deserves our backing, clubs get rid of managers all too quickly these days and nearly always regret it. I want to see how the games over the festive period go, see who comes in in Jan and then reassess my thoughts about CL.

likewise I think he should have a few more games, millwall will defenitly be interesting.
