Jordan Posted 22 December 2005 Posted 22 December 2005 Not really a sing-along, but Nike enlisted the services of a few underground hip hop rappers and DJs to come up with a song following their "Don't Tread on Me" campaign. It doesn't seem to have much to do with soccer. http://www.nike.com/nikesoccer/dtom/dtom.html I bet "Ant and Dec" couldn't possibly put together something like this!
Jay Posted 22 December 2005 Posted 22 December 2005 "This American game" am I missing something here or are they about to launch a "World Series" that only American teams can play in?
Jordan Posted 22 December 2005 Author Posted 22 December 2005 I think it either has to do with soccer being as American as everything else in our country (read: with roots from other lands and cultures) or with selling $100 sneakers that are made by Indonesian 12-year-olds who get paid 25 cents a day. I don't know which one, though.
Blue Arrow Posted 22 December 2005 Posted 22 December 2005 So says "this American game" Haha what ba pile of crap

That whole "Dont Tread on Me" campaign is ridiculous, though the Sams Army clowns over at BigSoccer seem to lap it up. Exhibit B: The trainers, sorry "The Dunk" http://www.nike.com/nikesoccer/dtom/dtom.html
Jordan Posted 23 December 2005 Author Posted 23 December 2005 , I knew Dempsey liked to rap in his spare time but I had no idea it was him. Sam's Army will lap up anything that's served to them. It's good that Nike is actually spending money on an ad campaign to support the national team but I'm not a fan of Nike or ad campaigns in general so it doesn't afffect me much.
MC Prussian Posted 23 December 2005 Posted 23 December 2005 "The American Game"... Football: Originates from England Hockey: Originates from the Netherlands/Scotland/Canada Basketball: Originates from Canada (though Naismith taught in Springfield, Mass) American Football: Originates from England, and was first introduced in Canada (Montreal) Baseball: American. But they can have it. (Well, Baseball is actually based on "Rounders" and Cricket, but whatever...) "The American Game"?

MC Prussian Posted 24 December 2005 Posted 24 December 2005 As I said, "...as American as everything else in our country (read: with roots from other lands and cultures)" I gotcha. I know that you belong to an open-minded portion of the American population. Don't worry, JoBeck. Just wanted to have that list in front of my eyes one more time. 'Tis quite interesting.
Sigma Posted 28 December 2005 Posted 28 December 2005 Basketball: Originates from Canada (though Naismith taught in Springfield, Mass) Worthless fact of the day. Naismith is from Almonte in Lanark County (Canada).
