Sell on clauses.

For us to get a sell on, on profit, they’d probably have to move for mega bucks to a Real Madrid/Barcelona. 
 

It’s testament to the level we got to. Also heartbreaking to see how far we’ve fallen. 
 

Will be interesting to see if guys like Maddison, Barnes or KDH move on for profit - all of them have more possibility. 

There are 2 types of sell in clause though. One could be on the sale and one could be in the profit of sale. Obviously the latter reducing our chance of any money at all in the scenario you mention.

Yeah get you but in both instances, a move is unlikely given it’s the “big move”. Take Maguire. Huge move which at one point looked to have failed - player didn’t leave. The wages, the outlay from the buying club etc. very difficult. I love criticising the club and don’t know the ins and outs but if it’s true we negotiated that the vast majority (if not all) of the £80m was paid up front, that is far better for where we were back then. 
 

Now, sell ons absolutely should be a must for our key sales. We’ve done from selling to Chelsea and Man U to Leeds, Palace, West Ham being linked to poaching our key players. 
 

I just think for where we were recently, the “add on” of a sell on is a difficult sell.

When we were a top end stepping stone to the big clubs, sell ons were not really an issue when you are selling a player at their prime.

Now we are the next tier down, sell ons are more likely to be included as players are going to clubs like we used to be, and, especially with the young ones who's values could increase.
