It doesn’t grind to a halt like that. The players they acquired would still be there and the prestige and ability to recruit based on earlier success, entry into European competition etc. if they had been found guilty and expelled that would have been one less big competitor out of the way. I am not saying that a case for compensation would be straightforward but it exists.
 

It doesn’t exonerate the mess we are in right now in any way and the need to find new owners and drag ourselves back to a position of sustainability and a brighter future.
