I would love to know just how Rudkin did it. By all accounts he's been disliked since he was part of the academy, so even getting to DoF level is impressive. To then swing 7 years of abject failure into yet more money is just insane. I really just do not get it

Are people really thinking we'll be anywhere near the playoff spots? We've seen the script a few times now, there's not gonna be some late season surge up the table as the new players finally grasp the way the boss wants them to play because we're already playing football exactly how Martin, Rudkin, Top want us to. 80 percent possession last game, amazing stuff. That's clearly the target, not goals. Martin has been incredibly explicit about this over the last few years. Maybe a better question is how many points will we need to avoid relegation? There's a solid chance we end up in administration, so factoring in the points deduction from that is probably a good idea too.

I'm finding this pretty funny. Early 50s is young when it comes to football club ownership. Zero chance he would buy a premier league team because where's the profit? It'd be break the top 6 or lose a load of money. Championship maybe, but as many have said most clubs have shit infrastructure which would need to be sorted before big moves up the leagues. We are hardly a normal third tier club, and that's the biggest draw. If he fails to crack the top 6 with us he'll still probably 5x his investment just getting to the premier league.

Genuinely, when has club tried to correct any mistakes it's made in the last 5 years? Sacking managers one game after international breaks doesn't count.

On one hand it doesn't suprise me at all that the board have lied through their teeth and sold him a dream, and I feel bad for him that he's fallen for it. I bet he had a lot of hope going into this season and it's probably already pretty apparent that there was actually little to be hopeful for in reality. On the other hand, if he didn't already know the kind of slimy creatures he was getting into bed with then it truly shows a shocking lack of diligence on his part. Almost every manager has publicly insinuated that they have been deceived by our board, almost every mention of our distinguished DoF by ex players is dripping in disgust. He surely reached out to people privately who would have been even clearer in their opinion. And I'm also reasonably sure that his contract is significantly better than anything he could've got elsewhere. Adding it all up, I want to have sympathy for him but just can't bring myself to. He knew what he was getting into, he's made a bad bet, and he'll be rewarded for it with money and punished for it with (a lack of) future job opportunities.

Completely unfair reading of my point to the point of absurdity tbh. But to answer your question, right now they should be finalising scouting lists, talking to managers, putting feelers out to see what movements are likely to happen and what the consequences of that will be. If club x recruits player y then they will be open to sell player z. If manager M wants unfavourable terms then we can talk to manager C. There's a million things to do right now, everything on the back end is allowed to move once the season is over and can't once the season is on. That's the point of transfer windows. Once September the first rolls around what are you expecting him to be doing? His choices have been made, everything is set. That's when he should **** off to wherever.
