Ric Flair Posted 29 September 2004 Posted 29 September 2004 But if Adams was a fair man, Tommy should of got the nod ahead of Benji last night. 2) Trevor Benjamin has been nothing short of awful in 95% of the games he's played for Leicester and isn't it a touch unfair to keep playing him ahead of a home grown player who's doing well in the reserves and getting rave reviews from Peter Shirtliff? If Adams was fair, he would go on current form and Wright would of played. 23045 Hold on a minute. So what you're saying is that Mickey picked a team that won, those people that went said Trev had a good game but it was still the wrong decision? If we had lost and Trev had played crap, your argument would have some validity. Sorry, I don't get it. 23046 Where did I say it was the wrong decision bud? All I was stating was that Micky often swops and changes his team irrepective of performances or current form of players. Last night his decisions paid off and well done to Trev, but I was just stating a few facts that a fair manager who picks players on current form might have picked Tommy over the donkey. Not that hard really. 23049 Bud here, I have extracted the bits of your original post that led me to believe that you were saying it was the wrong decision by Mickey to play Trev ahead of Tommy Wright. An unfair decision to me intimates that it is a wrong decision. 23052 Perhaps I worded it wrong, but I didn't mean that. It proved to be a great decision and hats off to Micky, I was just feeling sorry for Tommy. Micky's pre-match interview led the fans to believe that he was going to throw Wright and Stearman in after some disgraceful performances from the seasoned professionals at this club. I thought before kick-off it was the wrong decision considering the current form of both players and considering what Micky had said, but we won so my argument would be thrown out of the window anyway. I just get angered when Micky shows alot of faith to some players irrespective of performances, but i'm not the boss I suppose. But until Micky properly sorts things out at this club, I shall voice my concerns.
Scow Posted 29 September 2004 Posted 29 September 2004 I thought we would lose tonight, so it's a nice surprise. One win doesn't change my thoughts on Micky Adams - Gillingham are a poor team, let's not carried away. 0-0 against Preston anyone? 22957 We'll win 4-1, trust me 22958 With Preston putting 10 men behind the ball, I doubt it. 22961 All we need is one goal (preferably early on in the game) and that will force Preston to open up and attack us, and leave more space in their defence. Cos let's face it, Preston won't just settle for a 1-0 defeat will they? 23048 I agree, but do we ever look like scoring when teams get men behind the ball? With the exception of Sheffield United, we haven't looked like scoring in those games at home. Maybe someone like Kevin Harper could provide some width and pace on the right if he's fit for Saturday. He looked very impressive at Rotherham - Got some terrific crosses in too. Playing Scowcroft or Wilcox on the wings won't provide you with that service for the forwards because they're devoid of any pace or skill to get past people and make things happen.
