(The Sun) PORTSMOUTH are making a £10million double swoop for Chelsea goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini and Porto’s South African striker Benni McCarthy. Pompey are now apparently flush with funds after Russian millionaire Alexandre Gaydamak pumped £15m into the club to become joint owner. And last night Red Pom sanctioned the first signing of his reign by landing striker Emmanuel Olisadebe on loan until the end of the season. The Poland international, 27, joined from Panathinaikos. It would seem unlikely Chelsea would want to part with Cudicini, 32, who would cost around £2.5m. He is in his prime for a keeper and an important back-up to Petr Cech as the Blues mount a triple assault on the Champions League, Premiership and FA Cup. But the word is Jose Mourinho may be prepared to do business if he can find a replacement. Meanwhile, McCarthy, 28, may finally get his long-awaited move to the Premiership.
