burbagefox Posted 9 January 2006 Posted 9 January 2006 Woke up this morning on my b'day and the Mrs. has finally after 30 years got me the perfect present! A ticket to go and see the living legend himself, Mr. Frank Worthington! He's doing an evening for a club called Nuneaton Griff - never heard of 'em - in February. Now that's what i call a proper footballer. I reckon he'd get in today's side even now if we could get some boots on 'im. Saw him once at a 'do in Quorn and didn't stop laughing for a week! If any of you are also attending I'll be the one in the '75 away shirt perstering him for an autograph all night. Say's on the ticket that there's more info on the club's website, www.nuneatongriff.co.uk For the young 'uns reading, Sir Frank was here between '72 and '77 and scored 72 goals from his 210 games after joining us from Huddersfield. He was more of a hero off the pitch than on it, cut from the same cloth as the late great Georgie Best. Thought I was dreaming last night dancing my way back to the car at full time, but this week just gets better!
Lester LXXIV Posted 9 January 2006 Posted 9 January 2006 Did you know that Gary Lineker refused to play in his testimonial too! Have you read his autobiography? He's a legend!!

Jon the Hat Posted 9 January 2006 Posted 9 January 2006 lineker doesnt play at all since he retired, not even in charity games To be fair he retired because of injury. I saw his toe once on telly and is looked a right mess.
Lester LXXIV Posted 9 January 2006 Posted 9 January 2006 Well I think this was a while ago, Frank said it was more to do with appearance fees etc...
