Micky Adams

I didnt go the game last night and after seeing the attendance I can see that quite a few others didnt.

I just thought I would share my opinion of the whole micky Adams thing that appears to be flooding the chat forum recently.

I am a big fan of Micky and am very grateful of what he has achieved and done at Leicester through troubled times. Up until this bad spell that we are going through, Micky was regarded as one of the best footballing managers around. Every decent vacancy that arose the guy was linked with and we were all praying at one stage that Micky remains loyal and stays with us. He has done that.

I actually would be sad to see him go because I dont think there are many managers out there that would better him and suit Leicester, but i honestly think he needs this break to give himself a kick up the backside, not just the players.

On paper, we have quite possibly a top 2 team, and looking at the oppoenets we have played, all have been poor then there is no reason why we cant achieve a top 6 finish even now.

But we are not a team. We have potential, but basically the squad is thrown together with players on 1 year deals that, lets be honest arent exactly going onto the pitch for the pride of playing for Leicester. They are looking foward to taking home another year's worth of salary before heading on to another unfortunate club. I am not singling out all players but a few.

What is disappointing me is that IMO Micky has already thrown the towel in and if he has then he is better off leaving with immediate efffect because he is damaging the club now.

After the Preston (Championship) game, I listened to his interview. Now Micky has never been one for geeing the supporters up with his passion in his speeches (unlike Martin O'God) but everything has turned sour.

He has taken the critsim directed at him and his tactics very personally and instead of remaining positive and shutting out the critsim he is letting it affect him. He should be more professional than that. I think Micky is hurting and upset by the way the season has developed, but he shouldnt come on the Radio and start declaring that should the Leicester fans not want me to stay then he wont. Wow, that really gets the supporters up for the next match. Be sensible lad....

Sometimes his tactics and substitutions have been bizzare and at the end of the day if they dont come off he has got to accept responsibilty for this. I am fickle and I would quite happily cheer a good performance but boo a bad one. I pay good money to watch MY club and if we are not happy then sadly but truthfully Micky and the players will hear this.

In an ideal world, I would prefer Micky to stay on as manager, be positive with his coaching and tactics. Lose the negatice comments and speeches after the games and say nothing if you have nothing positive to say. He needs to lose his negative body language and be positive. Micky you can do this.

I think it has gone too far down the line and the rot has already set in. Last night was another disasterous result for the club and closes another avenue to generate the club a bit more income. I suppose now we can concentrate on the league but I have always hated that shit excuse for being dumped out of the cup on your ass by a shite opposition.

So Micky get yourself up for the fight or get out! Its your choice....

Very Wise words those. Unfortunately some will only count you as another brown noser.

Thing is, you can only take so much either as a fan or a supporter and as soon as two turn against him he's outnumbered. It's a far more confortable ride for some to jump on the bandwagon rather than use objectivity.

Maybe he's just run out of steam.

Hi, I don't post on this forum very often, but I do check it from time to time, as although I don't agree with the general consensus on here (I am, what BM affectionately refers to as a 'brown noser'), I am interested in other City fans points of views.

I just wanted to say cheers to Southern Fox, as those words are without a shadow of a doubt, the best post I've had the pleasure to read on here, I completely echo your sentiments. My patience with Adams is starting to show cracks, I still think he can turn things around, but the clock is ticking...

Oh yeh, how did the great hope of Leicester do yesterday, young Tommy? ;)

I think this is one of the best articles I have read for a while about LCFC, I remember that Martin Oneill went 12 games without a win. LCFC fans are patient but not stupid, 2 home wins in 10 months thats not a good return.

Micky I realise you one of the new breed of manager, I realise we are only 5/6 points away from the leading pack.

Nothing more irritates me more thou is spending my wages week in week out to see players with no passion or commitment.

I'm not one for throwing the towel in but the results have got to change and quickly, or TIM DAVIES should be looking towards Luton, AKA Mike Newell.

Nuff said.

I went to the game last night and have had few things to say before now that weren't words of one syllable.

I have only one question? Where do we go now? Do we wait until there is no hope of a play off place? Do we wait until Micky has undone everything he has ever done at this club? Do we wait until the last proud supporter loses hope and belief? Do we wait until the last child who would have been a city supporter instead opts for a red shirt with Rooney written on its reverse? The answer, of course, is that we cannot! Yes Micky Adams has done a lot for this club, but now he is putting us back to the position we were in when he took over!!!

I believe in Leicester City, thats why I was there last night, and that is why I will be there next time they cross the white line, because it is something that is important to me, its about pride, and spirit. There have been bad times, and there have been glory days, but few times have I looked round to see that that spirit is no longer there...this season has been one of those times. We are like an animal with no teeth, not even remotely frightening to any team that comes to face us. Spirit and fight is totally absent. The manager sits on and watches with his arms folded void of any apparent emotion. Foxes never quit...its a joke. Few of those players on that pitch are worthy of pulling on that shirt and calling themselves city players. It used to be an honour...it certainly was to Walshe who would have sweated blood for the shirt.

Now we as fans can't criticise the manager, if we do we are branded as being poor fans. We don't back the team...WE are in the wrong. Well i'm sorry Micky I don't see it that way and I am not the only one. You say the buck stops with you and that we should direct our feeling towards you, but in the same breath you tell us that if we intimate that you don't know what you are doing you will walk out! That isn't taking responcibility, thats ducking it, just as you ducked it last night when you refused to talk to the press!! If you can't bear to talk about it, how do you think we feel watching it every week...GET A GRIP MAN! You haven't a clue! You say that YOU got us promoted, YOU generated a profit for the club. How big is your ego...I say WE the supporters got us promoted...it was our continued support that made us the best supported team in the league last time we were promoted. I say WE generated the profit by parting with our hard earned wages and showing up come rain or shine. YOUR legacy is the players currently on the pitch...hardly overwhelming are they Micky! It wasn't YOUR team that got us promoted, it was the dregs of a Martin O'Neil team...and a handful from the Taylor era.

You asked us to judge you by the team you put on the pitch. You said don't talk to you about the top six, talk to you about the top two, you asked us to judge you after 10 games...well hear it is Micky, here is the judgement! You asked us valid questions to judge you by... I just happen to think you don't like the answer!

This club will be around long after you have gone. When the club needed us through relegation and administration we were here, and we set record numbers...we were the best supported team in the league...that my friend saved us, not you Micky...welcome back to the real world, not your ego driven one...WE hold the cards, WE are the life blood, WE say its time for you to go!

I'm going to keep going to watch this team, but not for you Adams...but because my love for Leicester is stronger than my tolerance for you.

Time at the bar Micky!

I'm glad somebody else has interpreted MA's recent comments regarding the contribution made to this club as arrogant.

When he took over, the club went through one of the hardest and troubled spells in the clubs history. He managed to use the situation to motivate the team, and to get us promoted, and all credit to him, he did a fantastic job in turning what could have been a footballing disaster into a triumph over adversity.

However, when he says he got this club through administration, is that not a bit unfair on the others who were perhaps MORE involved in the financial goings on of the club?

Was it really MA's who sat in front of creditors, some of whom are fans, and tell them that they would not be paid for work on the Walkers Stadium?

Or tell season ticket holders they would lose their money if the club folded?

Did he really get a consortium together to buy the club out of administration?

Whatever my feelings about the Foxes Trust, is it not insulting to them, and to the supporters who donated whatever they could to try to ensure the club survived?

When the players took that wage deferral to try to save the club, it made me so proud to be a Leicester fan. Is Micky telling me know that this was all his idea?

As for generating £8m in transfer fees, he took a playing squad worth more than that and decimated it. Most of that money came from three, maybe four, transfers.

Cutting the wage bill? Wasn't that going to happen anyway? As contracts were renewed, and players left, this was bound to happen sooner or later.

That interview shows how desperate he is. He looks like he's lost the players, and he knows the fans are turning.

I will always be grateful for what he did in the 2002-2003 season, but he is not the messiah he and other people make out he is.

Thanks for the hard work Micky, but enough is enough.

Absolutely fantastic input across the board.

They are the sort of reasoned arguments that nobody can argue with. Well thought out and even better articulated.

I agree fully with the sentiments, Mickey Adams has put Mickey Adams in a corner and he needs to be looking for the exit sign.

Can I suggest that we lock this topic now so we've got at least one thread that only contains reasonable comments.

Lovely input it may be but the fact of the matter is that Adams will not walk away from a generous compensation package. He will still be manager today and tommorrow because we won't pay him off.

My question is, when is it worth paying him off so he will go? Is it now, while the season is salvagable, or in a years time...when we are fighting for our lives. If we drop another division we are doomed!

I think it is now time for the 'board' (whoever they are) to step in and tell Micky to leave. I know it will cost a fortune in terms of a compensation package but if the right decisions are made and a suitable replacement is lined up, we could recoup that compensation money (and a lot more) by getting ourselves promoted. If we leave things for a few more months (cos let's face it, stubborn Micky is not going to leave, and as for him being an honourable man always doing the right thing for the club, well that's a load of bollocks now that he ain't resigning) we could find ourselves too far from the top 6. We need to act quickly while we are still in toucing distance, otherwise the gap will continue to grow. We are already 8 points behind the top 2 (that's 3 wins for us and 3 defeats for them) and I can't see us closing this deficit under Adams.

Well you won't get called any names offa me, but i just don't know what to think of Micky anymore, i really do appriciate what's he done in the past, and in the close season i felt he brought in mostly the right players to get us promoted, but problems from last year have remained really basic tactical mistakes are being made, i did hope they would have ended long before the end of last season but sadly Micky has persisted with his own bemusing at times ways. One problem which i do label at the fans is on the whole expectation is way too high, this club nearly went out of business a couple of years ago, i think some forget that, to even be playing is a blessing. A play off place would be a great achievement this year, im sure some wouldn't even be happy with that.

that is one very good post i get down with him so i want him out but there is still a small part of me that has hope but it gets less and less he seems to take one step forwad only to go back two he reminds me of an old worn out pair of socks they never stay up long.

i have felt for some time since la manga that he just lost somthing i cannot put my finger on it but it looks to me as if he is feed up being here never happy like a gruppy old man.

he said that he has had to cahnge the team 3 times well is that not his fault as well yes first time his hands were tied 2nd time still tied but not as tight this time well mate whats the excuse this time................u dug this hole and u seem to think by digging in more u can find a way out maybe just maybe if you sign players with a few years ahead, not careers well past it u would then not need to turn over so many players the bench even look like it has no system to it at all, no keeper at times 2 forwards no cover for defence no wide player

the fact is at one time you had more good things than bad that could be said of you as a manager but now the tarnish has well and truley been rubbed off

I went last night and saw a side who gave a 100% but who let themselves and us down by stupid individual errors.Until the confidence visibly drained out of them after conceding the equaliser 20secs from time they had done alright and fought back from being behind to get into a winning position. We are not in the crisis that keeps being suggested, but I can see a Lynch Mob mentality gaining ground that I fear will drag us into the mire.

you have to ask yourself why was the confidence drained out of them, these are almost entirely seasoned well paid professionals. There attitude is almost inconceivable see my thread re Blake

This is down to a culture within the club, can you imagine players under MON or Little, some who had less skill thinking like that. Therein lies your crisis.

Blakes quote only proved how inarticulate he is,last night at least he was certainly trying.I am very worried about the lack of confidence in the squad but feel that the lynch mob mentality that is now growing is making things a hell of a lot worse.

Well I can't argue that it will make things worse results wise, but as for commitment on the pitch surely it cannot get any worse.
