Louise Posted 21 October 2004 Posted 21 October 2004 21/10/2004 Nikos' reaction Micky Adams' resignation. I was surprised by Micky Adams' decision to step down a few days ago, after the Preston defeat. I was very disappointed to see him resign, as he brought me to Leicester and made me captain, giving me a chance to prove that I have still a lot to offer. Changing manager during the season is always a challenge, as it takes time to re-adjust and get things back to normal. I am sure the board will consider all the options and make the best decision for the club. On a personal level, I have a minor injury problem with my back, but I am confident I will be ready for selection in a few days. Nikos Dabizas http://www.dabizas.com/opinions/indexd.php?links=1&id=90 Anyone want him back in the squad?
MON Posted 21 October 2004 Posted 21 October 2004 yeah i do, it is between Heath, Elliot and Dabizaz for the 2nd defender role IMO. But Dabizaz must stop giving away these needless free-kicks. But Heath must also stop these indivigual errors. Elliot and Keown for me in defence.
breadandcheese Posted 21 October 2004 Posted 21 October 2004 No, get rid of Dabizas. He's error-prone, never impressed at Newcastle, and more importantly, on massive wages. We might as well play a youngster, allow him the grace of about 2 or 3 mistakes a game (similar amount to Dabizas), all for under a quarter of the wages we pay Nikos. Bargain

Anish Posted 22 October 2004 Posted 22 October 2004 I think it's just an excuse ('minor injury problem with my back' - I'm sure he would have played if MA was still here). I would like to see him back in the squad. Keown imo cannot play 3 games in a week, so either Elliott or Dabizas should play against Stoke with the other on the bench. And how much money is Dabizas on?? Everyone here thinks he's on a similar wage to Elliott the way you guys are talking - surely the board and Micky would have had enough sense to not put him on THAT high wages?

Bargain 28420[/snapback] I agree, although I think the wages thing is irrelevant, the only considertation should be who would be the best in the long, medium and shorter term. Dabizas for me is a non-starter, due to his errors and giving away of free kicks -unacceptable for someone of his experience. Keown & Elliott together would make us susceptable to ground level/pacey attacks Heath (whose errors are more acceptable) and Stearman together lack sufficient experience. We should be aiming to continuing to 'prove' Heath' this season by playing him alongside Keown or Elliott. Stearman should play if Heath is injured or friendlies and should be given a place on the bench periodically. We really need to blood/test out Heath and Stearman this season because Keown, Elliott and hopefully Dabizas will be long gone come next season.
Jonbluefox9 Posted 22 October 2004 Posted 22 October 2004 I'd like to see Elliott and Heath play at the back tomorrow. I thought Heath had a good game on Tuesday apart from his own goal but Keown didn't impress me. Heath and Elliott played with Heath against Preston in the cup for the majority of the game and they didn't too bad. They could'nt have stopped Stewart giving away the penalty but their third goal should've been dealt with better.
Scow Posted 22 October 2004 Posted 22 October 2004 No thanks to Dabizas - He is a complete liability, never really been impressed with him. Keown & Elliott together would make us susceptable to ground level/pacey attacks What was our defensive partnership last time? Elliott and Taggart. It's true what you're saying, but pace isn't everything, although it does help! We had the best defensive record last time out with those two in the centre - Elliott and Keown would have a similar effect. Remember how Elliott and Taggart dealt with Yakubu 2 seasons ago against Pompey? Players may have pace at this level, but they won't punish you like they do in the Premiership. Aslong as you have fairly pacey full backs, then they can cover. Stewart and Makin are fine for this.

They must play along side either Keown or Elliott to get the full learning benefit.
andy_croydz Posted 22 October 2004 Posted 22 October 2004 Dabizas does sometimes have good games, but sometimes fouls a lot, im surprised hes got his own site though
