Macca4lcfc Posted 23 October 2004 Posted 23 October 2004 the pitch at he walkers looks shocking from the pics, ours was nowhere near that bad.......
Ash Posted 24 October 2004 Posted 24 October 2004 The pitch was ****ed after the first half , I bet they will cancel the training day at the Walkers on Monday

Anish Posted 24 October 2004 Posted 24 October 2004 Yep the pitch looked very poor, especially near the Kop side. The conditions didn't help but I'm sure other clubs have better pitches under the same conditions.
Scow Posted 24 October 2004 Posted 24 October 2004 Quite funny when Makin tried to play the ball down the wing, but then got his foot stuck in a huge wet patch. ::

Not many pitches would have been in good nick after that amount of rainfall i reckon. It made the game a lottery which we didn't adapt to as well as Stoke.
Jonbluefox9 Posted 24 October 2004 Posted 24 October 2004 The conditions didn't help but I'm sure other clubs have better pitches under the same conditions. Our pitch is quite good but the amount of rain that fell on it solidly for 5 hours would ruin most. I know one of the groundsmen so I would say it's good.

filbertway Posted 24 October 2004 Posted 24 October 2004 Macca the pitch you played on is never hardly played on, and it only seemed to rain when you played, it stopped at half time.
Macca4lcfc Posted 24 October 2004 Author Posted 24 October 2004 what are you on about? are yo on about holmes park on thursday? cos im on about the coventry training ground picthes!!
andy_croydz Posted 24 October 2004 Posted 24 October 2004 to be fair macca it rained from 1:30 till full time and another 2 hours after and dont forget they trained on it an hour before the game when it was wet and it rained a lot so i can see why it would be so soaked.
Guest Posted 25 October 2004 Posted 25 October 2004 It was nowhere near as bad as Fratton Park, which had about as much rain both last year and the year before, or the Madejski, when the game was abandoned. The pitch at the Walkers was designed to allow as much drainage as possible, but there has been so much rain, I would have been surprised if it wasn't affected in any way.
filbertway Posted 25 October 2004 Posted 25 October 2004 Yeh macca i was talking about holmes park. So i guess my case for an argument has gone out of the window.

I didnt play very well!! and by the way I was only sub because I wasoly playing 20 mins to get my fitness back up after injury!
bluefox Posted 25 October 2004 Posted 25 October 2004 the second half was a lottery due to the weather. Maybe we should of resorted back to hoofing it as far up the pitch as possible to avoid the puddles :!:
