Samu Posted 20 March 2006 Posted 20 March 2006 I think it may just be a uni site but is anyone on www.facebook.com. I know it might sound like all these other sites like WAYN and Hi5 but this one is actually really good and popular here in Manchester. Everyone seems to use it and it's quite cool as you can add people who you used to go to school with and haven't seen in years. Get involved, its a great way to spend some uni time when you should be working or going to lectures
Alexikokopops Posted 20 March 2006 Posted 20 March 2006 It's far too addictive. It's a good version of MySpace. Edit: Oh yeah, they're introducing High Schools now on top of Unis, but that's gonna be America first I'm guessing, with it being American and all.
Head Honcho Posted 20 March 2006 Posted 20 March 2006 I had a look at www.faceparty.co.uk It's full of desperate old slags!
Alexikokopops Posted 20 March 2006 Posted 20 March 2006 I had a look at www.faceparty.co.uk It's full of desperate old slags! I accidentally signed up for that when I was signing up for Facebook. They've deleted my account now though because I didn't make a profile.
Knighton Matt Posted 20 March 2006 Posted 20 March 2006 It looks a bit American for my liking! Can you check out lots of photos of hot chicks? Most that went to my school were minging... That would probably swing the vote!
The People's Hero Posted 20 March 2006 Posted 20 March 2006 I've got to be honest with you - these online communities suck. I'm too cool for them. No, honestly.

That would probably swing the vote! It's the ultimate sharking tool. You can check out people's profiles, see their relationship status and what they like and all that jazz, because of the tagging feature you can see pictures other people have of them so you can see how attractive people actually are, if they're you're friend then you can get their mobile number and email address if they've stuck them on there, which most people do (but only visible to friends), and if you're not their friend you can see mutual friends so you know how you can get introduced, you can see what modules they do. We had a discussion on how to shark/stalk people on it, I'm sure there were more things we could do.

Knighton Matt Posted 16 August 2006 Posted 16 August 2006 So who from here is on this facebook thing? I'm joining up tomorrow and may need some instant friends to appear more popular than I actually am.
Alexikokopops Posted 16 August 2006 Posted 16 August 2006 You need access to your Uni email still, unless your work has a network. Anyway, I'm there.

Yeah I just signed up for a uni alumni email address but not activated until tomorrow morning hence the delay. I bet there's some right fitties on your page Alex I shall certainly be investigating tomorrow

How do I get them 'in my network'? Do I have to buy them a couple of cyber drinks and generally talk the talk a bit?
Alexikokopops Posted 16 August 2006 Posted 16 August 2006 How do I get them 'in my network'? Do I have to buy them a couple of cyber drinks and generally talk the talk a bit? Nah, your network will be Newcastle Uni, so you'll be able to look at everyone's profile in there (unless there's some gays about who like to hide their profile from anyone but friends). You can only see people in other networks profile's if you have them as a friend, I imagine there could be some serious stalking going on otherwise because you use your real name and stuff.

Wow sounds complicated but I'm sure I'll suss it out. Just realised your avatar looks rather rude. Good friend of yours is she?!

Some good birds profiles at Newcastle uni on facebook, everyone seemed to use it last term. Hours of fun to be had.

Samu Posted 16 August 2006 Author Posted 16 August 2006 I'm on it, type in Sam Robson and you should find me at Manchester Uni (that's if anyone wants to add me!)
