EmLeee Posted 6 July 2006 Posted 6 July 2006 Switched my PC on yesterday afternoon, and I got a silly little message up telling me that it was "unable to load the main user area" and it put me onto a temporary area. Any setting I change in this area aren't saved when I log off or turn the computer off. I have none of my files or anything. It's quite annoying Any ideas what happened?

Daggers Posted 6 July 2006 Posted 6 July 2006 Best solution is to let someone look at it if you're not confident in doing it yourself. It may be a software conflict although you may be infected. If you can not see any of your files then I would suggest you run the machine to someone you trust to give it a once over.
crazy horse Posted 6 July 2006 Posted 6 July 2006 your computer doesn't like you i'm afraid ........well thats the technical explanation i have the same trouble........i often catch it making faces at me when it thinks i'm not looking! they all hate us when we think we are safely tucked up in bed they are plotting against us .........mine drinks my whiskey....... coz i don't remember drinking it and theres nobody else here
MC Prussian Posted 6 July 2006 Posted 6 July 2006 It's a conspiracy, tell thee! On a serious note, try installing one of the following programmes and run them in order to clean some space up and/or to get rid of ad-/spyware: - CCleaner - Ad-Aware SE - Spybot Search & Destroy Ad-Aware SE got rid of a really nasty Trojan bug on my PC that caused havoc for more than an entire year and I just couldn't find a way to get rid of it until I installed a new Ad-Aware update! Now it's all good again... This link will give you some more software options: More Utilities Files
EmLeee Posted 6 July 2006 Author Posted 6 July 2006 Thanks for the help The temporary area seems to be saving my new settings, which is good and I found my files which is better. I backed them up onto our handy removable hard drive and every thing is *touch wood* working fine at the moment!
