Have they finally got themselves a Keane replacement?

Surely not. :P

Wonder what Sir Alex is thinking with regards to a striker replacement. If he's got Carrick to play Keane's position, Alan Smith won't be needed there, so he can revert to being a striker. Wonder if Smith will actually get a proper change as a striker this year ...

Great business for Sperz. Zokora will do a job there and they should get in another body perhaps on the left side of midfield to play alongside Zokora, Davids and Lennon. With Berbatov and Keane/Defoe up front, they should be looking good again next season.

I'm sure Spurs fans will be happy with that now they have some more money to spend they could get another couple of good players.

seems alot of money to me!! and selling a striker who has a record of 1 in 2 and replacing him with a midfielder seems strange to me!!

Fergie's already confirmed Smith will play as a striker this year.

Carrick is a good player, but he's not in the same bracket as Keane. They've failed to attract world class talent (Torres, Ballack, Vieira etc) for the last few years now (with the exception of Rooney and Ronaldo) and with Scholes and Giggs getting less influential, I think their top 4 place could be under real pressure this season from Spurs.

Man Utd failing to make the top 4 would surely end Fergie's career.

Oh how I'd laugh. :D

it's even more crazy then to get rid of a striker with a 1 in 2 ratio and replace him with a player coming back from a serious broken leg who could still possibly miss half the season!!

Looks like Utd will start with Rooney, Saha, Rossi and Smith. They pretty much need Rooney to stay fit all season then!

I cant see man utd really giving chelsea a good challenge this season. I think liverpool could be a dark horse, they have made some good signings.

I disagree. Liverpool have signed players who were good in worse teams, and that's why these players stood out.

but imo this happens more in reverse when you get players like Nicky Butt who looked like a world beater at Utd but put him in with a bunch of average players like the past few seasons and it reveals what a shocking player he really is!!
