Daggers Posted 10 August 2006 Posted 10 August 2006 Oh you and your dirty mind! I looked into getting a barge for a week ~ and was quoted over a THOUSAND POUNDS! Looks like we'll drive to France instead.
golden gordon Posted 10 August 2006 Posted 10 August 2006 were you intending to go to france by barge ? it would have taken longer than a week; i think you may have made it to milton keynes but certainly not france; MK does have a nice new IKEA store though so you would not have been disappointed
Janx Posted 10 August 2006 Posted 10 August 2006 Sorry to sound glib and patronising, but can we clear up the terminology straight away.. do you mean "barge" quite girthy..or NARROWBOAT... I realise they are expensive, BUT its the price of the boat, so cram a few in and it works out OK per heed!
Dr The Singh Posted 10 August 2006 Posted 10 August 2006 You could get on one from Abbey Park (boating lake), I think it cost £5.20 an hour, but I don't think it would be suitable to go to france but just as entertaining though!!!

I hate Ikea.
golden gordon Posted 10 August 2006 Posted 10 August 2006 a drive to france is a good idea ,as i think it best if you stay on terra firma cap'n disco bob , still fresh in my mind is the fate of one other "cap'n bob" who if you remember fell off his boat leaving many unanswered questions ( where's this money gone ? where's that money gone?) it was reported he fell overboard whilst sneakily taking a piss ( sneakily taking the piss is something you do quite regularly) so the coincidences are too great to be ignored I can't see why you hate IKEA so much,as it allows one to get a true "taste of scandinavia" without the need for foreign travel. bon voyage as they say
Janx Posted 10 August 2006 Posted 10 August 2006 I love my "flobb" and "wanq" from Ikea.. Have you ever tried their "skat" glass topped coffee tables?
golden gordon Posted 10 August 2006 Posted 10 August 2006 I love my "flobb" and "wanq" from Ikea.. Have you ever tried their "skat" glass topped coffee tables? they do some lovely novelty towel rails; i'm thinking of getting one for my mother's birthday, what do you think?
Daggers Posted 10 August 2006 Author Posted 10 August 2006 It allows one to get a true "taste of scandinavia" without the need for foreign travel. If Scandinavia involves dumbass one way systems, queues that stretch from here to wahey, everything but the product you wanted and assistants that have as much idea of how the world works as Thracian ~ then you have a mighty fine point.
