Newcastle_Fox Posted 15 August 2006 Share Posted 15 August 2006 Wesolowski Stars In Reserve TriumphJames Wesolowski came through 90 minutes of action as a Leicester City XI posted a convincing 4-1 victory over Mansfield Town in a behind closed doors friendly at the Belvoir Drive training ground on Tuesday afternoon. Wesolowski had made his comeback from a thigh injury as a late substitute in Saturday's 2-1 Championship win over Ipswich Town. And the young Australian midfielder continued his rehabilitation with a solid performance in the middle of the park against the Stags. City's reserve side contained a blend of youth and experience, with Mark de Vries, Chris O'Grady, Gareth McAuley, Levi Porter, Louis Dodds and Alan Sheehan all getting a run out. Academy midfielder Andy King gave the Foxes the lead on 15 minutes, with former Lincoln centre-half McAuley doubling the advantage from close range on the half-hour mark. Dodds and O'Grady added goals in the second period, before Mansfield grabbed a late consolation. City (4-4-3): Logan, Magunda, Lycett, McAuley, Sheehan (Beswick 72), Wesolowski, King, Porter (Tejan-Si 66), de Vries, O'Grady, Dodds. Fez of Mahrez Posted 15 August 2006 Share Posted 15 August 2006 I demand that Rob Kelly is put on gardening leave immediately and whoever was in charge of this immense display of no-holds-barred attacking football against mighty behemoths Mansfield Town (reserves?) is placed in charge of the first eleven and plays 4-3-10 with 500 attacking players. This post is sooooooo last week isn't it..
Ric Flair Posted 15 August 2006 Share Posted 15 August 2006 Great to see him play 90 minutes. Great to see us playing a reserve game aswell!!! de Vries must be over the moon playing for the stiffs. Good to see the lethal OGmonster and Dodds score again.
The Stig Posted 15 August 2006 Share Posted 15 August 2006 I'd be over the moon if De Vries managed to put the ball in between the two white sticks once in a while, fat chance
Coxy Posted 15 August 2006 Share Posted 15 August 2006 Apparently they was only playing 4-3-3 after all.

Mansfield MUST have been pretty awful. From the way people talk about the different level of first team and reserves I'd have thought ex-first team marksman DeVries would have notched a bagful rather than three goals coming from the kids!. Was he trying! ? Andy King looked a decent prospect last year and seems to be starting this season as he finished previously. Looking at the doubt I doubt Mansfield knew what hit them. I know...first team's much too high a standard for COG and Doddsy!!!! And the Dourist Division wouldn't want too many attackers in the squad now would they.
