MADLEVEIN Posted 6 December 2004 Posted 6 December 2004 i wonder if levein will go with the o.neil no nonsense try and win it method or the micky adams put the youth team out a'la ferguson and wenger for a bit of squad rotation and get knocked out first round theory personally i think a trip to cardiff would be fantastic !
Samu Posted 6 December 2004 Posted 6 December 2004 Well we saw last season that teams from outside the Championship can get into the final. Very much doubt we'll win it, teams take this competition a lot more seriously (especially in the latter rounds) than the Carling cup.
gloucesterfox Posted 6 December 2004 Posted 6 December 2004 I suspect he is a man that wants to win at anything he takes part in. I would expect he would put out what he believes is the best team for who we are playing but that may mean some reserve players get a chance, like Benji could get a game (or a place on the bench) if he feels he needs a greater physical presence against some teams. Apart from anything else I think he'll want a good cup run to bring in the money to add to the squad.

He'll want to play his best team, but might gives the likes of Dawson and Stearman a run out for vital experience. Although cup competitions are important, the league is our priority (Obvious cliche there), so it gives us the chance to play a few fringe players. After all, it is a squad game, and that's something Levein has endorsed so far.

Adams never once gave any of the youngsters a game. O'Grady and Petrescu both got 15 minutes each one game in the 02/03 season and that's been it in 3 years her was here. Wright got the odd game, but Adams didn't first give him the chance, he'd already been playing under Bassett.
Scarby Posted 6 December 2004 Posted 6 December 2004 I hope he goes out to win, a trip down down to Cardiff for the FA Cup final next year will be prefect. Then a trip back a month or two later for the Play-OFf final. Can life get much better

Anish Posted 6 December 2004 Posted 6 December 2004 In all reality we won't get to the final unless we have a flukey set of draws set Millwall did last season. So if we get a stronger team in the 4th round (one of the top Premiership teams) we may as well give our fringe players a chance and save our first-teamers.
