Was at the forefront of the privatisation process of major utilities in the 80s - electricity, gas, telecommunications etc. Led GB to war in the Falkland Islands in 1982 (I think). Came under severe criticism after introducing the Poll Tax in the late 80s - which led to widespread rioting and protest.
