Injury Update

Recommended Posts

Rob Kelly has received some positive news from the treatment room ahead of the Championship clash against Stoke City at the Walkers Stadium on Tuesday evening (7:45pm). The Leicester squad has been ravaged by injury and illness of late - with Matty Fryatt (ankle), Gareth Williams (ankle), Danny Tiatto (thigh), Alan Maybury (groin), Stephen Hughes (thigh), James Wesolowski (thigh), Darren Kenton (ankle), Paddy McCarthy (nose), Andy Johnson (ankle), Chris O'Grady (ankle) and Levi Porter (sickness) all missing out at some point during October.

But as the end of the month nears, Kelly revealed that it was now looking a lot more positive as his troops prepare to take on Tony Pullis' Potters.

He said: "Paddy McCarthy and Matty Fryatt have both trained today (Monday) after making their comebacks against QPR on Saturday. That's good news.

"We would have liked them both to have had more practice and game time, but clinically they are ok.

"In an ideal world we would have liked to have given Paddy a week to get used to wearing the mask. But following the events at weekend we haven't got the luxury of being able to do that.

"He got 25 minutes out on the pitch at Loftus Road on Saturday and he has trained this morning, so he'll be fine.

"Andy Johnson and Stephen Hughes have also trained, but we will have to wait and see on them ahead of the game. We will have a better idea as to where we are nearer the match.

"But we have still got one or two doubts. James Wesolowski got a kick on Saturday and we had to bring him off at half time, while Alan Maybury pulled his groin during the second half. So both of those players would be classed as big doubts. Chris O'Grady is also still struggling. He's not quite right."
