Brummie-FOX Posted 13 November 2006 Posted 13 November 2006 '' Luton's board of directors will meet manager Mike Newell to discuss the comments he made about lineswoman Amy Rayner after Saturday's defeat by QPR. The board met on Monday and said in a statement: "The club disassociates itself with the manager's comments which have no place in the game. "The board will meet with the manager as a matter of urgency." Newell has apologised for his comments about Rayner, saying: "My comments were ill-timed and out of order. " Newell ready for the sack? Luton have lost there last five. Keeps opening his gob . And recently in the Daily Express, a match report reads; '' Furious Luton Chairman Bill Tomlins has hit back at manager Mike Newell for saying he is full off Bulls*** ', also accusing the ageing chairman that he is ' taking the club backwards '. As far as im concerned, Luton are lucky to be in this league.
lookwhaticando Posted 13 November 2006 Posted 13 November 2006 They'll be even luckier if they manage to stay without Newell. Bye Bye Newell, you rectangular faced gimp (© Cobbo).
Guest Gist Posted 13 November 2006 Posted 13 November 2006 I think it would be a bit extreme for him to get the sack for the comments he made although I disagree with what he said.

He's slagging everyone off who comes within 10 miles of him. It's only a matter of time before the board at Luton tire of his ramblings.
Maybes Posted 13 November 2006 Posted 13 November 2006 Bit of an idiot with what he said recently. Made himself look even more foolish by regreting what he said and not sticking to his guns

Thracian Posted 13 November 2006 Posted 13 November 2006 It sure is a short road from acclaim to oblivion and Newell seems to have taken a seriously wrong turn down the road to nowhere. A dose of dignity might be in order - especially as criticising other people while you're getting whacked is a form of self mutilation. The way he's carrying on you'd either think he's getting neurotic or he's manipulating a move cos he's figured there's nowhere to go at Luton. Whatever his reasoning though - if any - I can't see his outbursts are going to do his credibility any good. A big problem with football managers is they all hit tough times - and then you find you need some friends. What with his bung allegations and now his less than witty attack on the entire opposite sex the goodwill's leaking faster than Luton's defence right now And to think I fancied him as manager here last Christmas. Not that I was alone. Funny old game, football.

Ultra Posted 13 November 2006 Posted 13 November 2006 Now that Iain Dowie's back on the market, Newell must be feeling VERY uncomfortable.. He'll probably survive though, although his pocket will take a bit of a battering...
lookwhaticando Posted 14 November 2006 Posted 14 November 2006 Luton manager Mike Newell faces the sack after his sexist comments about female assistant referee Amy Rayner. (Various) BBC Sport The loose-jawed, rectangle faced gimp (© Cobbo) might be heading for the exit, then. Don't let the door smack your arse on your way out, mate.
lcfc_jme Posted 14 November 2006 Posted 14 November 2006 I'm getting confused...are we talking about Newell or Lemon Harpic? Both for sure But yeah Newell is pretty much on the way out, and he's only got himself to blame Ahh well no more losing to Luton for us
