Scow Posted 22 December 2004 Posted 22 December 2004 The Manchester City reserve 'keeper burned in the eye by the lit cigar of midfielder Joey Barton is likely to be permanently scarred.Barton has been fined a maximum six weeks' wages of £142,000 after his cigar burned the eyelid of 18-year-old Jamie Tandy. He has been treated at Manchester Eye Hospital and was still suffering from blurred vision 48 hours after the incident. Tandy's vision will return but his eyelids are expected to be permanently scarred by the attack, which Barton claimed during an internal investigation as an 'accident'. The England Under-21 midfielder was apparently telling anyone who would listen on Sunday night that he now earns £27,000 a week, and was amusing himself by burning other players' fancy dress outfits. Tandy then tried to set fire to Barton's t-shirt, which led to the first-teamer burning him in his eye. The two then started a brawl and were eventually dragged apart by other players. Barton apparently tried to apologise to Tandy on Tuesday morning, but was met by a cool response from the youngster. An investigation was immediately launched by the club, who will impose the maximum fine but stop short of sacking either of the participants. Link - Football 365 That Joey Barton seems like a right tosser. The youth of today, eh?
dan_84 Posted 22 December 2004 Posted 22 December 2004 what a arsehole the idiot wants sacking and banning from football. Bullying is just as bad as racism.

To my mind it's all part of modern football culture where money has rotted the core of football and reflects the lack of responsibility shown by too many people in society today. Not thinking about the consequence of their actions is arrogance at it's worse. They wont sack him (they should sell him to Millwall so him and DW can smack each other) because he's worth too much to them, integrity in football is also dead and is clearly demonstrated at the very top by the likes of Fergy and Wenger. Here was me trying to take on a more cheerful persona on this board. I'll have to start again on January 1st now.
Guest Daniel Posted 22 December 2004 Posted 22 December 2004 You dont know how much of this is the truth, if some pillock tried to burn my t-shirt id do it back. Probably all bullshit.
filbertway Posted 23 December 2004 Posted 23 December 2004 If he was a changed man which probably wouldn't happen with all the money sucking the sence out of him. I would love levein to give him a second chance. What do you all think?

What do you all think? 48960[/snapback] A few to many ifs for my liking, if he'd been sacked he hasn't so he's not available, if he was a changed man, well how would you know. Anyway the reputation and integrity of LCFC is still shit in the eyes of most fans so I for one would say no. I'd sooner see players I admire thanks.
Anish Posted 23 December 2004 Posted 23 December 2004 They certainly won't sack him, but I hope he gets sued by the goalie for the damage Barton caused.
