Scow Posted 26 December 2004 Posted 26 December 2004 Nalis and Gudjonsson were awful today, we were second to most 50/50 challenges and both of them can barely pass to their own player. Our problem lies in midfield - We have no pace, energy or creativity in midfield. This would easily be solved by playing a combination of Dawson and Williams. I know a lot of you haven't seen Dawson, but believe me he is much better than the shower of shite our midfield is producing at the minute. Dawson has all the attributes of an all round midfielder, and he is ready now. Levein can surely see after today that we have a major problem after losing to Rotherham at home, but he seems happy to persist with these bunch of wankers. I don't blame Levein, they are not his players, he's had to make do with the bag of wank Adams drafted him. However, it's surely time that he recognises that we are a shockingly slow and average team. We need new ideas, new players and a new approach. Obviously it's going to be difficult to do that now as we all know, but it's not fair to hold back our promising youngsters who deserve a chance. Must be so disheartening for them to watch these jokers play in the first team and not seem close to getting any action. No excuses about holding these players back who want to play for us, get them in. It can't be any worse than losing against the bottom side in the division at home.
Anish Posted 26 December 2004 Posted 26 December 2004 Well said, I agree wholeheartedly. Williams and Dawson in please. Levein you said you wanted more younger homegrown players, now is the chance. No more of this crap is acceptable - the boos and shouting at the end of the game said it all.
Jonbluefox9 Posted 26 December 2004 Posted 26 December 2004 If it was up to me I'd put Heath in for Keown because I thought he was awful today. Heath has been left out in the cold and personally I think he's a decent player who I know loves Leicester. Bring Stearman in for Makin as he wouldn't run with the ball today. He was content with just lumping it forward at every opportunity. Williams and Dawson in for Nalis and Gudjonsson and although Connolly and Scowy were poor today I don't think we have anyone any better to bring in. I don't want to criticise Levein but I really can't see why he brought Gemmill on instead of Williams. Gemmill very rarely passed the ball forwards and occasionally failed to make his passes reach his team mates. A very poor performance by us today.

Well if he sticks to that then we are not going to see him this season If it's not working, you change it.
breadandcheese Posted 27 December 2004 Posted 27 December 2004 We seem to all be calling for the inclusion of youth, particularly because our experienced players are performing so poorly. There is no mistaking it. Our team is so old and piss poor that if it was a racehorse, it would have been made into pritt stick long ago, serving the needs of kids everywhere with its ability to stick maccarone to paper. We are all looking for a quickfix, talking about the immediate need to include the likes of Dawson and Stearman. Indeed, I see very little alternative to this. But, this is exactly what it is, a quickfix. I have never managed a professional football team so I am not sure of the best approach to blooding in youngsters, however, I trust Levein (who at Hearts brought through some good youngsters) when he believes that the best time to bring young players through is when confidence is high. It is important that our imperative need for a quick fix solution should not distract us from bringing young players through in such a manner that it maximises their development. I would rather we suffer the consequences and let Stearman and Dawson develop slowly such that they become the best players they can possibly become, rather than chuck them in at the deep end. Throwing youngsters in for the odd game is fine in a crisis, but for the whole season? It will be more useful in the long run for our club, if our young stars develop in the best way the coaching staff see fit and are nurtured properly.
