Thracian Posted 14 December 2006 Posted 14 December 2006 I suppose I'm showing my age a bit but I've just come back from seeing Starlight Express at the DMH and what a show. The cast had to spend four weeks intensive roller-skating training - and well as being able to sing and dance. It was just great to appreciate how many talented people there are. And is it worth writing a musical?. Well Starlight ran in London for over 18 years and has made over £340 million worldwide.

The Mrs was dying to go but we can't do it this year, hopefully it will be back soon!!
Thracian Posted 15 December 2006 Author Posted 15 December 2006 I used to love roller skating.... Were you a Granby Halls girl?
Guest Posted 15 December 2006 Posted 15 December 2006 Were you a Granby Halls girl? No, my mum wouldn't let me go. I used to skate in the street, and do stunts and things. We made it up as we went along, and now when I see the 'extreme sports' nowadays, I get a little envious of today's youth.
Trumpet Posted 15 December 2006 Posted 15 December 2006 Faaaaaaaaaaaar away, this ship is taking me faaaaaaaaaar away, far away from the memories of the people who care if i live or diiiiiiiiiiiiiie

Saturday morning sessions were something with the snake train stretching right around the arena and everyone dicing to be at the back for the greatest fling off. Lost count of the broken ankles, arms and occasional legs I saw. God knows what the health and safety would have reduced it to today!. My wife was a great skater - even as a teenager she could go backwards faster than anyone I ever met. In fact I'm still looking for the bloke who taught her!. :D But I could never decide whether skating or horses was best for the female derriere. Maybe I never wanted to stop checking the evidence!
Guest Posted 15 December 2006 Posted 15 December 2006 Perhaps it was safer at the football! She wouldn't let me go there either!!
