Lineker's Left Foot Posted 1 January 2007 Posted 1 January 2007 Seems a silly thread, but are we by far the biggest club in England without any money whatsoever to spend ?? I am basing this on the fact that also we are in an area (the East Midlands) where the state of football from the respective teams is rubbish. I think the current state of our club is pathetic and am wondering if you agree?

When you think where we were 5-10 years ago, it seems like a million miles away from where we are now.
Brummie-FOX Posted 1 January 2007 Posted 1 January 2007 Biggest club in England? Without any money? I don't really consider ourselves as a big club anymore
Lineker's Left Foot Posted 1 January 2007 Author Posted 1 January 2007 Biggest club in England? Without any money? I don't really consider ourselves as a big club anymore I mean by taking the biggest clubs into consideration e.g. Man Utd, Chelski etc. Then your Man.City's, Spurs, Newcastle, West Ham's etc.. We must be on the next tier with Birmingham, Wolves, West Brom, Southampton - these all have money to spend!! We are bigger than other clubs in Premiership with money e.g. Charlton, Fulham, Wigan and can you name another club, our size, who have zilch money???
DB11 Posted 1 January 2007 Posted 1 January 2007 Well you've got the "no money" bit right, not sure about big club. We have a premiership ground and, some could argue, a premiership training facility. Shame about the team though, league 1 team is what the current squad is

Shame about the team though, league 1 team is what the current squad is Yeah probably hit the nail on the head there. I am thinking of our current and potential fanbase as well should MM come in - we have a large area to attract new fans, thus making us a big club in that sense, because we attract fans all over from Nuneaton/Rugby down towards even the villages around Peterborough and Rutland area along the A47. We COULD be a big club, but as far as our current team is concerned, no we're not !!
Leonisco Posted 1 January 2007 Posted 1 January 2007 Yep you're right it is pathetic. When you think where we were 5-10 years ago, it seems like a million miles away from where we are now. What's even worse is watching that video that someone posted on here not long ago, of us beating Luton 4-0 in the 70's, and seeing what we have now been reduced. The gulf between that performance and today astounds me. Everyone of our players should be made to watch that video over and over again until they understand the standards this club used to have and hat it means to be a Leicester City player.
JoeyB Posted 1 January 2007 Posted 1 January 2007 i know everybody wont like this but in all honesty i think that forest are a bigger club than us and have no money to spend either sorry but thats my opinion i dont like to say it but its true
Leonisco Posted 1 January 2007 Posted 1 January 2007 i know everybody wont like this but in all honesty i think that forest are a bigger club than us and have no money to spend either sorry but thats my opinion i dont like to say it but its true Forest do have money to spend. Look at the players they've bought recently - Agogo, Tyson, Grant Holt - they didn't come cheaply.
Joe. Posted 1 January 2007 Posted 1 January 2007 i know everybody wont like this but in all honesty i think that forest are a bigger club than us and have no money to spend either sorry but thats my opinion i dont like to say it but its true Another timeless classic from joeb
Guest Gist Posted 1 January 2007 Posted 1 January 2007 We are not a big club anymore because we don't have the money.
Thracian Posted 1 January 2007 Posted 1 January 2007 Biggest club in England? Without any money? I don't really consider ourselves as a big club anymore We're a big club. Incompetents have made us look little and act little.
Brummie-FOX Posted 1 January 2007 Posted 1 January 2007 Notts Forest are a bigger club in terms of History to be honest..
Leicester's 12th Man Posted 1 January 2007 Posted 1 January 2007 We're still a big club, well known, big stadium, good facilites. We're one of the biggest clubs without any money.
Eastern Fox Posted 1 January 2007 Posted 1 January 2007 We're certainly one of the the biggest, Ipswich haven't really got any money either, I think all their signings this season were frees. What pisses me off is traditionally small clubs like Wigan, who can't even fill their ground in the Premiership are fed cash by chairman who don't mind giving them all their money. Lucky bastards.

And you could argue they're bigger (but nastier).

Lucky bastards. same here I look at teams such as wigan, reading, Bolton, portsmouth even Charlton and Blackburn and think that should be us beating chelsea/man utd 1-0 at home. But of course football isn't like that. <_<
Eastern Fox Posted 1 January 2007 Posted 1 January 2007 It should be us . Charlton used to model themselves on us when O'Neill was our manager and they were struggling to get promoted/established in the Premiership. I still blame Peter Taylor for everything. 23 million fooking quid! I'll be a pensioner when we have that kind of money again to spend in two seasons.
Guest Posted 1 January 2007 Posted 1 January 2007 If you're going to use trophies won as a measure of how big a club is, then you'll probably find that Notts County are a bigger club than Forest.
Floating Fox Posted 1 January 2007 Posted 1 January 2007 Leeds are probably bigger...but the have Bates so maybe so. I can stand the lieks of Bolton, Wigan who are up their within god awfull fans. They are like plastic teams just being stuffed full of money by their chairmen. Doesn't bother me so much when it happens to a team like pompey at least they had some sort of history and a hlaf decent fanbase before.

They don't spend much money, but Wigan are so annoying. Really hope they get relegated

Because Milan Mandaric is such a hardcore City fan he's selling his granny to buy his home-town club?

I could'nt agree more...never seen that before until this morning although my dad was there and has told me about the birch doing "keepy uppies"..didn't believe him!...what a team...sigh!
