Katy Posted 15 January 2005 Posted 15 January 2005 Chandler - you have made your point about Micky and everyone knows your feelings about him - fair enough, we all have differing ideas and opinions about things and not everyone agrees with you BUT please can you start/join in a debate about something else now, this Mickyness is getting a tad boring now. 55025 Not particularly fair that Katy. It is a thread about Mickey /Craig and not one that was started by Chandler. My guess is that if we were climbing the table and playing great football, the anti mickey brigade would be very vocal with their "told you so" rhetoric. 55033 My point was that on practically every thread Chandler has posted on he has referred to MA or calling everyone 'boneheads' or 'chavs' - change the record its just a bit dull thats all.
Guest Posted 17 January 2005 Posted 17 January 2005 And of course Lisa, YOU SAID ALL THIS AT THE TIME DIDN'T YOU? Just like all the members of the 'fickle bonehead' army. Actually, my memory recollection is that I did voice concerns, quite early on during the promotion season. Obviously this is my deluded mind getting one over me again; I bow down to your superior knowledge of myself, you know me better than I do! Thank you for putting me in my place, I really appreciate it. Lisa you are just a goldfish in disguise! 54863 Chandler honey, the only pondlife around here is you.
Ric Flair Posted 17 January 2005 Posted 17 January 2005 I don't see how Hoof's post is 'excellent', Connolly. It's a long spleen venter that is short on reason and appallingly ignorant of the facts. The only valid point that Hoof makes is that Micky's squad was (AND SHOULD STILL BE) a decent one.Hoof suggests that it was Adams' policy to think 'short term.' This is such unbelievable shite that the response should be obvious. Unfortunately I am dealing with fickle boneheads here so I'll have to spell it out. Adams was forced to change his squad for the Championship campaign because the rump of his Premiership stars wanted out. They wanted out because of loopholes in their contracts allowing them to leave in the event of relegation. These loopholes were written into their contracts at the behest of the players' agents because THEY WOULD HAVE GONE ELSEWHERE IF THEY HAD NOT BEEN INCLUDED. (And while we're at it, the terms of player contracts are not the province of team management - though they may advise club management in certain aspects). Hoof finishes his rant with the usual absurdities. The team has no confidence and no spirit. Well, Hoof, whose responsibility is that I wonder? If the squad looks 'handy' on paper then clearly Levein is missing a trick as we slide down the table. As for being 'brave' in seeking new acquisitions that's what all managers wish they could do - particularly those with money (and no money) who are making a right royal cock-up of things. And there are some things that Levein is cocking up big time. At least Adams could win on the road (3 victories). Levein has chalked up just one away victory in case you hadn't noticed. Hoof, next time you decide to treat us to one of your polemics - think about it first, then amend it a little, then preview it ... AND THEN FORGET THE WHOLE DAM THING!!! 54655 Cheers for the feedback on my post i'm over the moon that you enjoyed it as much as I did writing it. I've re-read it and I still stand by it, just as you stand by your views on what's gone/going on. One thing I am struggling with at the minute is finding the words to back my argument up, I rarely struggle for words but with an argument like this I am finding it a struggle. I'm big enough to admit that, i'm not going to get in a petty squabble about it either. Some people will agree with me (infact most people will) one or two won't like yourself, but who's right and who's wrong. I enjoy the majority of your posts Chandler, even though we are raking over old ground regarding the Adams/Boneheadgate I would of been intrigued to hear these thoughts of yours at the time of Micky's departure. I was a big fan of Micky Adams, I thought in the first season at the club he was marvelous. Getting promotion for the club was a massive achievement and i'll always be grateful of that. My opinions of him slowly started to change when we were put under scrutiny in the premiership, he didn't get to do much transfer activity whilst we were busy getting promoted so everything appeared rosy as far as I was concerned. I met the man last season and he was a nice chap, i've never had anything against him personally. Infact as soon as I started questioning Adams I felt guilty, really guilty. I didn't want to be questioning him, I really liked Adams and I wished things would perk up for him and Leicester. Whether my argument against Micky Adams is right or wrong, things happened that meant Adams position became untenable. I didn't like the way he went about his business in the transfer market, whether that was down to Bassett i'm not sure. I also didn't like his negativity in the way he spoke, these things obviously only came to light when things were going badly. But quality always shines through and with Micky it slowly evapourated, he wasn't very professional in the way he acted during this season. The way he spoke during interviews, the way he threw his toys out of his pram when things went against him. I appreciate it wasn't all his fault but he never, once shouldered any of the blame. He did get us promotion, he did sign players this season that I thought were good enough to take us back up. But that doesn't mean he is immune from critisicm, if things aren't going well then it's the managers responsibility to sort it out. The same with CL if he can't sort things out then he'll be to blame, that's football. Levein deserves time though, Adams deserved time to sort things out but he didn't do himself any favours with the way he acted this season. Anyway i'm not happy with this post, i've not been able to express my opinions aswell as I would of liked. Keep up the good work Chandler, i'm not taking the piss here but I enjoy hearing your thoughts on things. I wish you would drop the act though, we are all City fans at the end of the day. Forget Micky Adams and let's hear your thoughts on some other pressing issues i.e. how we can get out of the mess we are in. Why our team is immune to change and why we can't play players under the age of 30. Tickets please
