Rincewind Posted 29 January 2007 Posted 29 January 2007 bought a connection USB thing for my blue tooth phone today. May need a little help or confirmation that I have not fecked it up so far. I have installed the disc that went with it. I have looked briefly at the menus and help but wary about doing anything just yet. Turned the bluetooth on on my phone and looked at the options. The device number is showing on the monitor which corresponds to myphone so I think thats ok. There is a search choice which leads to all audio phone or pc. I want to download some music onto my phone so if I click audio would this do it? Daft question maybe but as I said I dont want muck things up as I tend to do when it comes to anything technical. Just a bit nervous about it really.
JoeyB Posted 29 January 2007 Posted 29 January 2007 i think audio might be the one. not trying to sound stupid but do you have any more options to send the items too?
potter3 Posted 29 January 2007 Posted 29 January 2007 When I use mine, I click "Send File," then I choose the file(s), then it searches for Devices in Range, I click the name of my phone, and hit send.

Rincewind Posted 29 January 2007 Author Posted 29 January 2007 Well its got All Audio phone PC Is this what you mean? There may be choices on the disc menu as well to send or receive so which one do I use for PC to phone. BTW it works on a distance 0-100 meter V1.2 Compliant USB 2.0 compliant My phone is Bluetooth enabled so should work with it as well.. I bet it's a lot easier than I'm making it out to be. I'm sure you can transfer files to laptops and other PC's. It just seems too simple to just plug the USB device in and click on a menu choice. I'm looking for the difficulty in it. Just seen the two posts above. Think I've got it now. I was told the USB dongle was quicker today and the advantage was that it can be used with any phone or PC. With a cable it is made for a specific phone. Mine cost £7.50 from that phone booth just inside the market near the Arcade. In the carphone warehouse the other week I was quoted £30 plus.

I think what you're trying to do is pair the phone, choose phone.
Rincewind Posted 29 January 2007 Author Posted 29 January 2007 Yes I want to use my phone as a MP3. I have pictures on my phone that I want to send the other way. Not many yet but it'll be better than emailing them then finding a website to store them on if I want to link any on here as in my avatar. I shall give it a go then. I may start with The Sea Of Blue. I will then be able to pass iot onto another phone (hopefully) ifI am within range. Is that so?
potter3 Posted 30 January 2007 Posted 30 January 2007 Yeah, if you want to send files from your phone to the computer, make sure bluetooth is on, and send the file as you would to a normal phone.

Rincewind Posted 31 January 2007 Author Posted 31 January 2007 Yes, as a MP3 player. Still having trouble. Its asking for a passkey and when I get one and send it it tells me the device numbers cannot be paired. I have emailed them and had a reply with a help form and telling theres an update which is free if the device is lisenced. I just bought the ruddy thing from a shop. Where does the lisence come into things? Anyway I filled in a help form but some questions are awkward. Q1 Bluetooth device model. Does this meen the USB dongle or the phone? I must be thick. Anyway I tried to reinstall it. My PC went on the blink. Stopped on the startup screen (black) I still had the thing in the USB point so I removed it. Seemed to work but I dont know why. The thing is the two things are not connecting or recognising each other. In the email I got they wanted me to be more specific. Well I tried. <_< Dont know how but I've sent a ringtone(s) to my PC Now I have The Entertainer on my PC. Now I have to find out how to do it the other way. I'm wondereing if I need to have new settings sent to my phone but it should be BT ready.
potter3 Posted 31 January 2007 Posted 31 January 2007 Put both the passcodes as 1234. Or anything matching
JoeyB Posted 31 January 2007 Posted 31 January 2007 if the usb dongle is as good as you say it is. i'm on to a winner £4 off ebay if not
cisono Posted 31 January 2007 Posted 31 January 2007 Put both the passcodes as 1234. Or anything matching Or 0000...
potter3 Posted 1 February 2007 Posted 1 February 2007 Or 0000... Well you could have 4866 so long as it matches, or 8542, 5444...
Rincewind Posted 1 February 2007 Author Posted 1 February 2007 well I've got them matching but how do I get the stuff of my PC to my phone? I've done it the other way round without meaning to.
potter3 Posted 1 February 2007 Posted 1 February 2007 Try righ-clicking the file you want to send and see if there is an option "Send via Bluetooth"
cisono Posted 1 February 2007 Posted 1 February 2007 Well you could have 4866 so long as it matches, or 8542, 5444... I know. But I prefer to keep it consistent...
