Have officially signed Thomas Graveson...

Real Madrid and Everton have confirmed a deal for Thomas Gravesen has been agreed.

The Dane has already agreed terms with Real, because of the fact he was out of contract at Goodison Park in the summer - which meant he was free to talk to clubs during the January transfer window.

"Real Madrid have reached an agreement for the transfer of Thomas Gravesen to The White club (Real)," said a Real statement on www.realmadrid.com.

"Gravesen will play for Real Madrid in what remains of this season and three more."

The Toffees were desperate to keep Gravesen - who has been in outstanding form this season - but they have admitted defeat and have now accepted a fee of just over £2 million for him, rather than getting nothing for him in the summer.

Gravesen will now have a stringent medical in Madrid before putting pen-to-paper on a three-and-half-year deal.

Gravesen's agent John Sivebaek confirmed his charge was delighted to be moving to the Spanish capital.

"He is naturally tremendously happy and has already started to look forward to," he said.

"It's big that a Danie will join Real Madrid."

If Graveson plays well, then I can see Madrid improving quite a bit, because they'll have someone in midfield who can actually win the ball, rather than playing Beckham there for instance, and so everyone else can do all their creative hoo-hah.

It's what they need.

Graveson will do a good job for Real , they need a player that will hold and break up attack's...Graveson is a brilliant player and a move to Real Madrid is well deserved !

Ironic thing is, Gravesen has needed a ball winner to compliment his attacking style of play this season - Lee Carsley. He's capable of playing that anchor role in front of the back 4, but he's better going forward than defending.

You're absolutely spot on, Scowy... Gravesen ISN'T an anchor man although he is a tough tackler...so he won't be the ideal replacement for Makelélé. But I'm both amazed and bemused at the fact Real bought Gravesen.. but knowing his mentality and his determination, I do believe he can do a good job and if anyone deserves a shot at a big club from the current Danish crop, it's him...

It's a brilliant move for Graveson and well deserved imo. He has been awesome this season for Everton and Madrid need that sort of player in their midfield to compliment their flair players.

But at least he can win the bll, unlike the rest of their midfield :)

What I'm looking forward to is seeing how he interacts with the 'stars' on the pitch. Thomas is famous for ignoring status and he might become the player who inspires the rest with his lack of fear. Having said that, there are many other factors that could make his move turn sour, but keeping fingers crossed for the lad..

Gonna watch his (possible) debut tonight on Danish TV :)
