lookwhaticando Posted 1 February 2007 Posted 1 February 2007 Anyone watch (or even listen?) to Dead Ringers? I used to listen to it on Radio 4 many years ago. They were absolutely brilliant for a while, then they sorta deteriorated in quality for some reason (some of the people they were imitating I just didn't get, I guess). The television series had it's moments, but it was never as consistent as the earlier radio broadcasts. I decided Dead Ringers needed a thread of it's own after watching Louise's Life On Mars S2 trailer. A related video was a DR parody of Life On Mars, which is quite amusing... BBC.co.uk - Dead Ringers John Humphrys is one brilliant character they do, listen out for him on the radio clips.
Geo V Posted 1 February 2007 Posted 1 February 2007 I never used to watch it but stumbled across one of the blokes doing an impression of Ozzie Osbourne and cracked up. I dont look for the show but dont turn it over if I stumble across it!

I dont look for the show but dont turn it over if I stumble across it! The Ozzy ones are heavily used. There was a spoof of 'Location Location Location' ... in which, rather than find a new house for a punter, they help "this man find the house he currently lives in" [switch to view of Ozzy wandering in the bushes] They've got some good ones... but some of the stuff is a bit too recent for me to understand, I have to research the 'characters' portrayed just to find out what the hell's happening in the newer series.

Most of these impressionists seem to lack decent material. Some have got there impressions down to a tee but the content is pants. Rory Bremner is OK at times but too political for me and is just repetitive and Alistair McGowan is one of teh best but he has decided to do some "serious" acting ().

I noticed he did some serious acting. He was that Mayo bloke. I watched a few episodes and found it impossible to take him seriously when half the time he's projecting images of Beppe Di Marco from Eastenders the whole bloody time.

Sounds like you are recommending the show (particularly the radio one)...

It's a pretty good/funny imitations program. never heard the radio version but the TV series was brilliant. I preferred the radio version. Just my evaluation of the quality levels. The radio characters had to be more easily identifiable, obviously, without the aid of vision. Vivid imagery the voices though.
Flynny Posted 22 February 2007 Posted 22 February 2007 Anyone watching it tonight? They've got Jeremy Kyle perfect.
lildave3 Posted 22 February 2007 Posted 22 February 2007 Balls, missed it. Watching that damn Hotel Babylon instead. <_<

Geo V Posted 25 February 2007 Posted 25 February 2007 Anyone watching it tonight? They've got Jeremy Kyle perfect. I caught some of it and loads were spot on. The Kyle/Edmonds/Bush efforts were quality.
