Or what about if Luton went down?? Sorry I don't actually support NTFC so I don't know why I'm butting in.

I can't see it myself. There's a train link with MK and a lot of people from Northampton do their shopping there! Things like that count I think. Luton/Watford is a massive rivalry which might be renewed next season anyway.

Fair enough. It's pretty good IMO that two local teams can get along tho. Have we ever played them?

We played them in the FA Cup third round in the 1997/98 season. Won 4-0, Cottee, Marshall, Savage and Parker scored.

Have played them in a couple of pre-season friendlies recently as well at Sixfields, the most recent of which was one of Dennis Wise's first games for us. He was getting cheered to the rafters every time he came over to take a corner. Sturridge scored the first and Akinbiyi scored the winner in a 2-1 win.

Northampton have only played once in the top division, in 1965/66, we were also there then, drew 1-1 at Filbert Street and drew 2-2 at the County Ground. We finished 7th that season. They were promoted from Division 4 in successive seasons and relegated back there in successive seasons!

They could be playing Kettering next season if the Diamonds get relegated OR Kettering get promoted. Now surely they are big rivals. Correct me if I'm wrong.

When Kettering get promoted :thumbup::thumbup:

Yeah, huge rivals. Can't wait.

Diamonds are/used to be rivals.

Only while Griggs' money was being pumped in, instead of being used at the Cobblers due to a board f-uk of Citeh proportions!

I was impressed with the Town TBH, defending as a team and making quick breaks in an organised fashion. They were more than a match for Forest and should've taken a point for their efforts. For a team with seventy-something strikers in the squad Forest were crap in front of goal. I'd like to be playing them next year (we'd whoop them) but there's no way they'll get up this season playing like that.
