ENGLAND vrs NEW ZEALAND

New Zealand currently 138/4 off of 28.1 overs. Styris looks well set. We may well suffer a 5 wicket defeat in the first game of the World Cup to a side who lost to Bangladesh not that long ago.

taint over yet, couple of quick wickets and we're back in with a shout. we're in deep shit though.

and just beat Australia 3-0 you fool!!!!!!!!!!

Not the point. We've beaten Australia 3 times in our last 4 meetings as well lol.:P

Couple of quick wickets? Coming from where? The bowling is looking toothless and the batsmen look well set.

That comment you just made indicates that you think NZ aren't a very good team, therefore you clearly know nothing about cricket.

I don't claim to be the fountain of all knowledge when it comes to cricket, but I know a fair bit. New Zealand aren't that great a one-day side, and have been better at times in the past. They're more consistent than what we are, but there are at least 4 other teams in this tournament I'd say were better than them.

I never really thought NZ were a good team. I watched a bit of them in the triangular series and recognised some of their players. (Fleming, Oram)

I was proved wrong.

Pietersen has just dropped Styris. Is that the nail in the coffin for England in this game? Gut-feeling says yes.

Each person has the right to their own opinion, and I exercise the right to have mine. There's no question NZ have ability at one-day level, but I don't think they're a great one-day side. Maybe I don't watch enough cricket. But this is my opinion. :P

I am being proven wrong all over the shop in this thread lol! Still, the chance came and went, and now it'll be a struggle for England to save this game. (please prove me wrong again!!!)

on a lighter note, now i know i'm not one to talk about looks, but is scott styris the ugliest player in the world cup?

Who is more pale - him or Logan?

Defeat. In the opening game. I know we're notoriously slow starters, but that was a toothless performance for the most part. It'd have been a lot easier for NZ if Nixon and Plunket hadn't rescued the game with the bat.

Didn't watch the game, or even follow it. All i know is that we lost, and i am disappointed with that. But even though they didn't win, i shall still cheer on the best team in the world.

Come on Zimbabwe :scarf:
