lookwhaticando Posted 11 April 2007 Posted 11 April 2007 (ex-) Luton Chairman Tomlins admits to taking irregular payments from football agents on three occasions. Tomlins resigns, Luton are subject of an FA probe. Whoops, mate.
Leonisco Posted 12 April 2007 Posted 12 April 2007 I reckon that's exactly why Newell said it, he knew his own club was at it and he wanted to put a stop to it but couldn't actually name them as it would have put his job in jeopardy.
davieG Posted 6 October 2008 Posted 6 October 2008 Newell takes over as Grimsby boss Newell was sacked as Luton boss in March 2007 League Two strugglers Grimsby have named Mike Newell as their new manager. The former Luton Town and Hartlepool boss takes over from Stuart Watkiss, who has been in caretaker charge at Blundell Park. Newell said he never had any fears that he would not get another job after exposing corruption in the game. He told BBC Radio Humberside: "I didn't have a fear. Short-term it didn't do me any favours but I always thought long-term I would get back into the game." He added: "I thought there would be plenty of football clubs and plenty of football people who would like me to work for them. "I watched them on Saturday at Rotherham and for a team in the position they're in I was pleasantly surprised." Newell arrives to find the club fourth from the bottom of the table having collected only three points so far and his first match is against S****horpe in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

Corky Posted 6 October 2008 Posted 6 October 2008 Ive always liked Mike Newell, thinks its hes honesty. He reallys should of came to Leicester though. Working with Mandaric? Couldn't see it. And our female supporters wouldn't have been very happy.
SussexFox Posted 6 October 2008 Posted 6 October 2008 I think thats a really good appointment for Grimsby
Zingari Posted 7 October 2008 Posted 7 October 2008 http://www.sportinglife.com/football/natio...ual_165038.html good luck to the bloke seems he does like the smell of fish after all
Thracian Posted 7 October 2008 Posted 7 October 2008 I did wonder if he would ever get back. Grimsby fans can look forward to some decent football - providing the agents will still speak to Newell, of course.
