McBeth faces Fifa racism probe

John McBeth faces a Fifa investgation days before he is due to be made Britain's new Fifa vice-president.

A new ethics committee will investigate McBeth, who stands accused of racism after allegedly suggesting African and Caribbean associations were corrupt.

He also said he had won the Fifa vote because other nations hate England.

McBeth will step down as Scottish Football Association president on Friday but the Fifa post will remain vacant during the investigation.

It is now possible that McBeth may not have the oppotunity to take up his new role with Fifa.

That would see the home nations holding another election to find the person to succeed Scottish lawyer David Will, who is retiring after 17 years with Fifa.

In his interview with a number of Scottish Sunday newspapers, McBeth described Fifa president Sepp Blatter as a "tricky customer".

He went on to claim some Africa representatives have different ethics from the British "fair play" attitude.

"I know two or three (at Fifa) whom I'd want to count my fingers after shaking hands with them," he said.

"If I come across corruption, I have to expose it. I must try to stay true to my beliefs and hope I don't get seduced.

"By and large, the four British countries know what fair play is and when we are stepping out of line.

"But, as soon as you hit Africa, it's a slightly different kettle of fish. They're poor nations and want to grab what they can.

"I presume the Caribbean is much the same - they just come at it in a different way."

His mistake was that he forgot to mention a European country as a corrupt nation. There's at least two in recent times he could have chosen. lol^_^

Is that racism.. Or just pure ignorance?

Either way, I like how he conveniently leaves out couple of European nations.

And it's not like Scottish football has itself been squeaky-clean over the years, is it?

If you want to know about corruption in Caribbean football ask Tartan Fox on the Fox Fanzine, he'll give you the full SP.

Fair play to MacBeth he has said what has needed to be said for a long time. Sepp Blatter in his pursuit of pushing the game in those 2 parts of the world has turned a blind eye to all sorts of dodgy dealings, not least the million or so that went missing in Antigua a few years back.

The most corrupt one of the lot getting a quote as well, Jack Warner, the same guy who bullied the tiny Caribbean nations in to giving him a green light after he was discovered knocking out World Cup tickets.

Why is such an apparently brainless bloke set to be a British representative on FIFA?.

To make such random and obviously provocative statements to the Press and substantiate nothing is to behave like an idiot and at his age he should know better.

This has nothing to do with whether he's right or wrong or anywhere in between.

For a man in the public eye to make such generalisations to the national press without substantiation is nieve, irresponsible and downright offensive to anyone with football power in those countries who isn't corrupt or who might have a different but perfectly honourable perspective to his own.

If he ever seriously wanted to do something about corruption it would seem he's just blown the best chance he'll ever have - which makes the comments even more stupid.

There are enough scandals and questionable goings-on within English and European football - even right now - to leave the guy a laughing stock.

Crime and corruption are everywhere, always have been. They are not restricted to a particular skin colour. They are cancers which afflict and are rampant across the entire human race, more's the pity.

And they won't be countered, much less ended, by this sort of idiocy.

You'd think he'd take up his position first, then use it to stamp out corruption!

The dopey twat

Huh? I thought you and Tartan Fox were the same person..

And these things never happen in Europe, do they?

Look how much it cost to build Wembley - can you honestly say there were no backhanders or sweeteners paid somewhere along the line?

The flourishing state of the game north of the border, and the oft-voiced suspicions of at least one SPL club owner, also brings a saying involving pots and kettles to mind.

The most corrupt one of the lot getting a quote as well, Jack Warner, the same guy who bullied the tiny Caribbean nations in to giving him a green light after he was discovered knocking out World Cup tickets.

This guy is head of the FA of that noted superpower Trinidad and Tobago. So he'd only be able to bully anyone if he had friends in high places who were as equally dodgy as he was.

lol No we're not, but we know each other very well, ex team mates as kids.

I'm not saying the game in Europe isn't corrupt but the way money disappears in those parts of the world is scandelous. But because all the minnows vote for Blatter it is 'swept under the carpet'.

The flourishing state of the game north of the border, and the oft-voiced suspicions of at least one SPL club owner, also brings a saying involving pots and kettles to mind.

Don't get me started on the game back home, the SPL is a farce and the fact that the SFA and the Scottish Exec have done nothing about the bigot brothers is a scandel. However, they do not bleed millions out of game and are allowed to get away with it.

This guy is head of the FA of that noted superpower Trinidad and Tobago. So he'd only be able to bully anyone if he had friends in high places who were as equally dodgy as he was.

Jack Warner is on the CONCACAF Executive and is a FIFA Vice President, I think he has a fair amount of sway and influence. If it wasn't for him there would be no Sepp Blatter.

MacBeth has opened a can of worms that needed opening he has not been racist and I look forward to Europe bringing down thieves like Blatter, Warner and Hayatou  Then MacBeth can turn his attentions to the Old Scum.
