Dames Posted 12 June 2007 Posted 12 June 2007 Preston boss Paul Simpson has made Crewe defender Billy Jones his first new signing of the summer. Jones, 20, has agreed a four-year deal and will complete the move on 1 July when his Crewe contract expires. The two clubs are yet to agree a fee for the player and the figure may be set by a tribunal. Jones told Preston's website: "I got such a good impression and I feel really confident that I could become a really good player for Preston." http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...ton/6743989.stm Why oh why couldn't we have nicked him.
breadandcheese Posted 12 June 2007 Posted 12 June 2007 Good signing by Preston and one we should have fought for. Shame really. As a player, he looks like he will be a very good defender and capable of playing at the top level in a few years time.
Mort Posted 12 June 2007 Posted 12 June 2007 A player who we really could have done with signing IMHO… would have really completed our defence and would have been an excellent long term investment, just didn’t seem to enter into anyone at the club’s calculations.
The Reverend Posted 12 June 2007 Posted 12 June 2007 Feck sake Allen! Just the sorta player we could of done with. An investment for the future - but also a good player now. And versatile. :@
