I'd say Defoe's the better player because unlike Bent, he has the ability to create chances for himself. Bent relies on other players to create his chances for him, so if he were in a crap team he wouldn't look half as good. That's why he never really set the world alight when he was at Ipswich.

Still managed to get 13 in a poor Charlton side last year.

Charlton ARE a crap team you loon.

Bent's the better player. No way he's worth even 10 million, though. Let alone half a million MORE than Henry. I'm assuming Jol is thinking he needs people who can play alongside Berbatov. With him as the creative striker his partner should be the sort of player Bent is.

There is obviously a huge premium in bringing home grown talent in. so looking at recent English players moves £18m for carrick, £17m for Hargreaves, £21m for SWP, £12m for walcott plus the huge prices discussed for Micah Richards I actually think £16 is about right for Bent. Don't get me wrong its still way too much but the figure certainly ties in with the way football is going.
