dandannieldanok Posted 28 June 2007 Posted 28 June 2007 Bent on his way I just thought it would be interesting to see who you lot thought was better considering Spurs are set to ditch Defoe for Bent. I personally think Defoe has the extra flair so is a better striker.
Joe. Posted 28 June 2007 Posted 28 June 2007 I think Darren Bent is overrated. I think I'd go for Defoe too probably at a push...
Fez of Mahrez Posted 28 June 2007 Posted 28 June 2007 I'd take Bent if forced to choose, just for his extra height and strength.
Lord Nibblington Posted 28 June 2007 Posted 28 June 2007 I've heard some talk from Spurs fan that Bent is actually coming in to replace Mido, not Defoe. Can't really see that happening myself. Defoe, Bent, Keane and Berbatov? Ain't keeping all of them happy.
The People's Hero Posted 28 June 2007 Posted 28 June 2007 Bent over Defoe. Both are overrated and neither are International quality in my opinion. Both are miles and miles better than anything we've got though.

Fez of Mahrez Posted 28 June 2007 Posted 28 June 2007 Apparently Mido may be on his way to Fulham... Yeah, he's heard about this new kebab shop.
Bryn Posted 28 June 2007 Posted 28 June 2007 I'd say Defoe. He has more composure in front of goal How on earth do you work that out? Darren Bent's Premiership scoring record in recent years is superior to Defoe's. I'd actually say thats the one thing definately has over Defoe. I'd rather have Bent though.
davieG Posted 29 June 2007 Posted 29 June 2007 From Sky Tottenham have completed the signing of Darren Bent from Charlton in a new club record £16.5 million deal. The England international has agreed a deal "up to six years" at White Hart Lane after agreeing personal terms and passing a medical. Bent has been expected to leave Charlton ever since their relegation from the Premier League last season. The former Ipswich man came close to joining West Ham earlier this month before he turned down the move at the eleventh hour. Tottenham made their move for Bent and they have lured him to North London as Martin Jol continues his policy of snapping up the best young English talent. Bent was delighted to seal the move and he is excited at the challenge of playing for Spurs. "Tottenham have a lot of young English players and it's a young squad, it's a squad going forward and that's the direction I wanted to take," Bent told the club's official website. "They seem to be getting better and better every season and I would love to be part of that. "It helps a lot that I know a few of the lads from England internationals and I'm sure they will help me settle in. "It's exciting times for me and the club, hopefully I'll show what I can do at Tottenham and we'll go on to win things." Jol was happy to land Bent and believes he will prove to be a valuable addition to the squad. "Darren’s strength is his stamina. Normally players will make runs three or four times in 45 minutes, he will do it all the time and if you manage to play balls behind the defence, he will be there. That’s what I like about him," said Jol. “He has pace, he links play well and can see a pass - he can exploit the space and play as well. “He knows Spurs is the place to be and that’s something to be proud of.â€
dandannieldanok Posted 29 June 2007 Author Posted 29 June 2007 I'm sure he will score a lot of goals in that Tottenham team but I still think they have payed £5 million too much.
Joe. Posted 29 June 2007 Posted 29 June 2007 I'm sure he will score a lot of goals in that Tottenham team but I still think they have payed £5 million too much. Well he's still only young at 23, so therefore should have s deent sell on value if he's still doing the business in a few years time.
Manwell Pablo Posted 29 June 2007 Posted 29 June 2007 What the **** are Charlton going to do with 16 and a half million.
dandannieldanok Posted 29 June 2007 Author Posted 29 June 2007 What the **** are Charlton going to do with 16 and a half million. Well they can start by purchasing some more of our crap players.
Leonisco Posted 29 June 2007 Posted 29 June 2007 I'd say Defoe's the better player because unlike Bent, he has the ability to create chances for himself. Bent relies on other players to create his chances for him, so if he were in a crap team he wouldn't look half as good. That's why he never really set the world alight when he was at Ipswich.
