The People's Hero Posted 4 July 2007 Posted 4 July 2007 Back when I were a nipper (deliberate mistake, attempting to give the impression of a dialect I simply don't possess and never shall) I used to love watching football on telly. Anyone. It was all so magical, so exciting, the fans cheered, the players were (in the large part) shit. But still. I long for the days of Ian Ormondroyd, Carl Leaburn, Mark Blake, David Kerslake, Jeremy Goss, Efan Ekoku, Erik Thorstvedt... where are all the characters now. These were cult heros. Is it just because I was younger. Or has football really become faceless, corporate and completely sh it?
Raj Posted 4 July 2007 Posted 4 July 2007 Or has football really become faceless, corporate and completely sh it?[/b] YES...one reason-MONEY!!!!!
The People's Hero Posted 4 July 2007 Author Posted 4 July 2007 I'm not sure why I started this thread really. I just had an urge to talk about Carl Leaburn. Carl Cort is our new Carl Leaburn. I can feel it. The Carl's of the world have united and let me tell you, they're an unstoppable black strikeforce.

The People's Hero Posted 4 July 2007 Author Posted 4 July 2007 Carl Asaba wanted in on it - but like I told him - you're not black enough and your name isn't really Carl, is it? It's Oscar. Now piss off back to Sheffield United or whichever third rate, backwater club you were last spotted turning out for. It was us? Oh bollocks.
