davieG Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 It really is about time the Football authorities assosciated, FIFA, UEFA, The FA, THE PREMIER LEAGUE with the English game got their act together and ensured characters like this are excluded from any involvement. From Sky The purported transfer of Carlos Tevez to Manchester United has taken a fresh twist, with the news that an arrest order has been issued for businessman Kia Joorabchian, the representative responsible for the player's affairs. A federal judge in Brazil has charged Joorabchian, amongst others, with money-laundering and being part of a criminal gang, for the role he played in the relationship between Media Sports Investment (MSI), the company he fronts, and Corinthians, the Brazilian club he first took Tevez to, before bringing him to England. London-based MSI has been under investigation ever since it took over Corinthians back in 2004, with Brazilian intelligence known to have run thorough checks on the company. "The (MSI) transactions are carried out with the use of numerous offshore accounts which have the single and well-known intention of distancing the investor and the illicit origin of the resources from their final destination, in this case the purchase and sale of (football) players," the federal attorneys Silvio Luis Martins de Oliveira and Rodrigo de Grandis are quoted as saying on Brazilian legal website consultor Juridico. The detention of Corinthians president Alberto Dualib has also been ordered, along with that of Russian oligarch Boris Berezovsky, whose money is thought to have bankrolled MSI. Both face similar charges. News of Joorabchian's impending arrest has overshadowed the news, revealed exclusively to Sky Sports News on Thursday, that Tevez would wrap up his move to Manchester United in the next few days. Suspicions of corruption were raised by the failure of money involved in the purchasing of players to be passed through the country, in a chain of events which has manifest accusations of money laundering. Both MSI and Corinthians have reportedly been unable to clarify the origins of the money, which proceeded to lead to the investigation, that has ultimately led to Joorabchian's impending arrest and cast further doubts over Tevez's move to United. Joorabchian has been at the centre of the furore caused by Tevez's switch to West Ham, which concluded at the campaign's end with the Premier League club being fined £5.5million, having been found guilty of third-party ownership. Sheffield United, who feel they should be reinstated to the top flight, at West Ham's expense, have taken the matter to the High Court, but it would appear Joorabchian now has more pressing affairs of his own.
bringbackWalshie Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 FIFA are a joke, there more corrupt than the Mafia. Half of the fifa exco's take bribes in order to swing presidential elections and world cup bids. They don't give a flying F**k about the beautiful game, there more concerned with lining there own pockets. They strip money from the game in order to pay for their extravigant lifestyles. Any doubts search Andrew Jennings, investigative journalist. I recently wrote an essay for my degree on corruption and it painfully laughable the extent of the corruption and blatent disregared for transparency

Geo V Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 This whole Tevez and West Ham affair stinks and whilst this Joorabchian fella i sto blame, the main culprits are West Ham for doing all they can to sign two players that to be fair are way beyond there league. They have sacrificed part of the so called family and honest club into a bit of a shambles in the deal for the Argentinian pair and the fallout is that this dude obviously owns part of Tevez`s contract and is awaiting a huge payday. Hit the Hammers with a points fine, cancel Tevez`s contract as illegal and start again because all this stuff about players being owned by groups and individuals, which is quite common around the world by the way, stinks of shadyness and the English leagues dont need to stoop so low with the money that they have at their disposal.
bringbackWalshie Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 it will be interesting when tesco's start buying all the new talent, and selling the players rights themseslevs. They seem to be buying everything else.

act smiley Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 Totally, The head of CONCACAF, Surname Jack I think, was found guilty of printing fake tickets for WC matches and got away with it as he has good relations with blatter. Was it fake tickets? I thought he was skimming loads off the top of the ones he was supposed to be distributing to all the various CONCACAF nations, but my memory is probably dodgy and it was someone else . Either way, football is very dodgy. it will be interesting when tesco's start buying all the new talent, and selling the players rights themseslevs. They seem to be buying everything else. hahaha, I'd find that quite funny actually, it just gave me a vision of Elvis Hammond wearing a Tesco Value kit sitting in a shopping trolley...
