Brainy Posted 15 July 2007 Posted 15 July 2007 Hellings just looked very average against Oadby Most people are excited about him because he used to play for Ajax.
Head Honcho Posted 15 July 2007 Posted 15 July 2007 Cheery, positive, glass half-full kinda topic this eh? The facts are, that at the start of last season, Andy Johnson was the new messiah LMFOA! I can't quite understand the Cort thing though. You don't expect him to be any good so how can he be the flop! Surely the flop is someone you expect to play well next season but flops?
Stevosevic Posted 15 July 2007 Author Posted 15 July 2007 Sorry everyone, it would seem i should have started a thread asking 'Which new signing will be the first to win world player of the year?' FFS its a forum for discussion, not everything on here that is discussed can be positive and it would seem we cant discuss the inevitable. It's just interesting to see what people think and see who is right at the end of the season.
lookwhaticando Posted 15 July 2007 Posted 15 July 2007 I think the outcome of this topic was totally predictable and wholly inevitable. We also seem to be discussing it now, too. Funny really how these things happen. Oh, and just for the record, I think it's your track record of negativity that's turned people off right from the go. If it was a normally optimistic person who posted this topic, I imagine it'd have gone down a little smoother. Your perceived negativity has effectively killed any chance this topic had.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 15 July 2007 Posted 15 July 2007 We've got a big enough squad now for some of the new signings to underwhelm and it won't matter as much as it did last season. It's hit and miss signing 11+ players. You're never going to sign 11 gems in one summer and good young prospects such as Sappleton, Hayes, Hellings and even Ka'abi should be given time to adapt instead of being written off after finding it tough in their first couple of competitive games (or worse a friendly against some two-bit opposition). As long as the talented youngsters that underachieved last season (i.e. Stearman, Fryatt) raise their game and four or five of the new signings bed in nicely (which I expect 100% from the more reliable and well-known pros like N'Gotty, Kishishev, Clemence and Newton) then we have the basis of a properly functioning football team. It will be a bonus if we get full seasons out of the likes of Ka'abi, Hellings, Wesolowski and Cort in terms of the former two's adaptation to the English game and the latter two's injury problems.

Thracian Posted 15 July 2007 Posted 15 July 2007 Hellings just looked very average against Oadby, i know its early days but i certainly didnt see any of the famous Ajax total football!!Although i admit th pich was shite!! It must have been like playing football on a bouncy castle.
dandannieldanok Posted 15 July 2007 Posted 15 July 2007 With the huge build-up Kaebi has got I was inclined to vote for him but I've gone for Nielsen. Purely on first sights and the very first cross in the city keepers jersey he fumbled badly.

Let's hope he improves quickly otherwise it's 90 goals we'll be needing.
city1993 Posted 16 July 2007 Posted 16 July 2007 No, I actually think that Sappleton will be a big lost soul out there, he can't get in QPR's team for christ sake. I can't believe no-one has said chambers will flop yet.... I don't know how you lot feel about him but he doesn't inspire me much ?
