But, surely, David Pleat's sides couldn't create an atmosphere anywhere (old era). Whereas Martin O'Neill's side would even in an open field (new era). In a nutshell, it's all about supporting a winning team. Any other analysis is really phsycobabble.

I remember some fantastic atmospheres at the old Filbo, even when Pleat was in charge and in some games we struggled to reach 10,000 fans lol. You are of course right, the Kop was so loud that we at times didn't need much help although I did enjoy looking over at getting the "main stand, give us a song, main stand main stand give us a song" and then see quite a few of them jumping up and down and trying although plenty of times when they couldn't be bothered we would start a simultaneous boooooooooooooo lol
