My view is that the roads would not have been closed had it been England winning and it didn't need the type of racist reply that some fookwit followed with as in his blinkered racist view on what English people are all about.

The roads wouldn't have been closed if England had won anything, you're right. I said it yesterday and I'll say it again in the future I'm sure. But like, so what? Who cares? Would you even want a road closing? No, you'd probably be in a pub, buying as many pints as you could possibly handle and celebrating with like-minded people.

Oh btw, Nationwider isn't a racist ****wit. I can safely assume you're not one to either read or watch the news on a regular basis, yes?

It wouldn't happen if England won because basically no-one would have given a shit. The sum total of festivities amongst the "English" (whoever the fook they are) would have been 7 wife-beatings, a rottweiler savaging a 2 year-old, three 14-year old girls having their stomachs pumped after consuming too much WKD (one going on to give birth later that night), a BNP rally in Runcorn, the M6 would have been reduced to north-bound single lane contraflow south of Preston due to the laying of optic fibre cabling and Amy Winehouse would have injected heroin into her eyeballs for the benefit of onlooking paparazzi and Sun reporters.

If the mayhem was rioting, looting and the mob-rape of a Tory councillor's daughter, then fair play - this is not on.

If it was the innocence celebration by a small sector of the population of a sporting triumph, and your gripe is based on the fact that you were a little late getting home for your pot noodle, then have a word, Douglas Hurd.

:D:D:D

I'd like to apologise for going a little over the top with the tone of my post. As I wasn't there, I guess I shouldn't pass judgement.

Based on my own personal experiences, I've always found supporters of Indian cricket very vociferous, but good natured.

Any mass celebration can get people a little worked up, perhaps more than they would normally on their own in their front room. When England win the football World Cup, I imagine that there will be utter pandemonium - very few will set out to cause any grief to anyone, but there's bound to be non-football fans that are inconvenienced.

I'm not anti-English. I was born in England, but think of myself as British. I don't understand the need for separate governments and the polarisation of British cultures. I don't want a homogenised nation either - if people want to speak Cornish, or Urdu, then let them. As long as there's one set of laws for everyone.

I know sod all about Keith Vaz, having never voted in Leicestershire. Perhaps he carries some political baggage? I'm sure he's good to his mother, regardless....

Let's not have a set-to about positive discrimination either. It exists. It's a fact in many facets of everyday life. Want to blame someone? Then blame lawyers.

FCUKING FOREIGNERS!

Kill them all! :D

To be fair,Nationwider has come up with some good points.

BUT im sure MOST decent people wouldn't mind Indian supporters celebrating their team winning a trophy for the first time in about 30 years.

And where else better to celebrate than Melton Road???

Where else would you expect it....Blaby????

If West Indies won, would you not expect Highfields to have some West Indians dancing on the Streets???

Chill out Guys it was a few hours of havoc......with all the road works in Leicester anyway, what difference does it make???? :D :D

We went on our way into town when the game finished and got stuck in the middle of melton road. Most of it was good fun with people dancing in the streets and celebrating with strangers etc but after 10 minutes of slowly moving along in the car it got annoying as we had to be somewhere. And then some guy came along and started smacking the window of the car and nearly put it through ... and the police just stood and watched :S Im all for people enjoying themselves and all that but don't try and put my fooking window through because Im not hooting the car's horn!!!!

Sorry to hear about your incident

BUT if you wave a Pakistani flag in the air you are bound to get some aggro! :D

Only joking!!!!

There is always some twat to go OTT!

Thats the point. Most wont mind and many joined in when Greece won Euro 2004 and Greeks and Cypriots lined the streets of places like London, causing havoc as the police had to shut off a couple of main roads. Loads of English, Indian, Black and whatever mates of us actually joined in with the fun and learnt some of the songs lol. Thats the way it should be as everyone who knows us realizes that we have a history through our parents and actually supported us because it wasnt a two finger salute to England but just a celebration for a Nation of 11 million who beat the odds and won a major footballing trophy.

The problem is that some of the locals didnt get into the wing of things and took major offence. It was like the fans who were drinking, dancing, singing and crying in the street were invading troops who were coming over to take a piece of England! the sooner those f**wits realize that we are well and truly part of the country the better.

BTW if Scotland, Ireland or Wales won a major footballing event, who would turn up to there celebrations with the mates who were celebrating? I would but then again any excuse to get pi$$ed lol
