Did anyone else get stuck in the nightmare that was Melton Road/ Belgrave/Loughborough Road last night? Greta decision by the Leics plod to shut the roads and let the local population celebrate in the streets. Please do not jump on this as a racist comment but it would not happen if it was England playing and I don't mean winning, I mean shutting off streets and causing mayhem in town because of it.

Still, if anyone was in any doubt about who runs our once fine city then last night was ample proof

It wouldn't happen if England won because basically no-one would have given a shit. The sum total of festivities amongst the "English" (whoever the fook they are) would have been 7 wife-beatings, a rottweiler savaging a 2 year-old, three 14-year old girls having their stomachs pumped after consuming too much WKD (one going on to give birth later that night), a BNP rally in Runcorn, the M6 would have been reduced to north-bound single lane contraflow south of Preston due to the laying of optic fibre cabling and Amy Winehouse would have injected heroin into her eyeballs for the benefit of onlooking paparazzi and Sun reporters.

If the mayhem was rioting, looting and the mob-rape of a Tory councillor's daughter, then fair play - this is not on.

If it was the innocence celebration by a small sector of the population of a sporting triumph, and your gripe is based on the fact that you were a little late getting home for your pot noodle, then have a word, Douglas Hurd.

Very PC of you or should I say un PC. Small sector of the population, not the Leicester population matey. Oh and BTW is that your views of the English (Whoever they are). Jog on back to the safety of your temple now your bowl of gruel is almost ready

Shutting the roads does sound a bit over the top. Fair enough go out and celebrate, but do you really need to do it in the middle of the road?

Yeah, it's over the top, and uneccessary but that happens!! There was no harm, only a minor disruption,, there's no need to make it a bigger issue then it actually is!!! A quick solution would be for the council\police would be to outlaw further such action and warn the public, as a matter of safety!!!

Wow, you managed to achieve *tit* status in just two posts.

Well done.

See if you can scale up to the lofty heights of Ultra-like retardation with the third.

Go on, you can do it...

Didn't know this happened. Don't really care either. Although i do agree that if England had won it, the roads wouldn't have been closed off, and we would've been offending others if they had.

We went on our way into town when the game finished and got stuck in the middle of melton road. Most of it was good fun with people dancing in the streets and celebrating with strangers etc but after 10 minutes of slowly moving along in the car it got annoying as we had to be somewhere. And then some guy came along and started smacking the window of the car and nearly put it through ... and the police just stood and watched :S Im all for people enjoying themselves and all that but don't try and put my fooking window through because Im not hooting the car's horn!!!!

In all my time in Leicester the only real racist I have met is Mr Keith Vaz. He was caught on camera stating that he wanted Hamilton to be 90% asian by the end of the year and guess what..........

Still he's a politician and asian so he can't possibly be racist.

My view is that the roads would not have been closed had it been England winning and it didn't need the type of racist reply that some fookwit followed with as in his blinkered racist view on what English people are all about. I am all for equality but those days are long gone and plod only seem interested in pleasing certain elements of our community.

Seriously chap you seem to have a real bee in your bonnet over this. It's the first time you've ever posted on here and it's to shout your mouth off over getting home late because India won the 20/20.

So f**king what if they celebrated and you got caught in a bit of traffic? So f**king what if it wouldn't happen if England won?

Get over it.

to be honest i thought the english celebrated the rugby world cup win, and the ashes win quite nicely, and certain roand in london were shut for those, i believe. i also remember certain roads in leicester being closed for open top bus celebrations of LCFC wins in the past.

stop being mardy the lot of yoh!

But thats what they are all about.

Some 'English' people are quite frankly a disgrace.

I'm not gunna go into detail but some minoritys of the English people are quite frankly dispicable.
