Gemill is a poor man's Carsely, but I think he would provide good cover for the squad. I am sure the board will find the money for Gemill. Another one year performance related contract coming up!

Remember, it really is a long long season.

Even if they are world class they can still go forward Yes some of them can, but just as a back-up we wouldn't need a defensive midfielder to go forward. Gemmill would come in if we were desperate and when you are injury hit you probably aren't overly worried about a defensive midfielder going forward. Especially when you have got Williams, Scowcroft, Morris, Wilcox, Nalis, Gudjonsson and Stewart all coming from midfield at some point in the season so really having Gemmill as back-up isn't a worry just because you say he can't get forward, which again you probably aren't a hundred percent sure if he can or can't anyway.
Scow Posted 3 August 2004 Posted 3 August 2004 Look at Billy McKinlay - He didn't get forward, but he did a superb job for us. His role was to protect the back 4, anything else was a bonus.
Ricey Posted 3 August 2004 Posted 3 August 2004 Gemmill will be a good player if we sign him, he may not be spectacular but he keeps possesion and starts off moves very much like a certain Neil Lennon. When we are playing away on a cold Wednesday players like Gemmill will be key because he will keep possesion for us which is vital away from home.

BartonFox Posted 3 August 2004 Posted 3 August 2004 Gemmill will be an ideal signing and someone that can help the likes of Williams and Gudjonsson. He has terrific top flight and international experience and for that alone he is worth the bucks. Also as stated he can keep possession and use the ball intelligently, why would we want a player like that?
