Legend Gerry Taggart is not a Leicester legend. This just got me thinking about who the Leicester Legends are.These are my off the top of the head suggestions; WALSHIE Blue blood in his veins. Blood guts and passion. Leicester till he dies BANKS & SHILTON Two of the best goalkeepers ever WELLER, WORTHINGTON For sheer entertainment and showmanship AND GLOVER McALLISTER All round class and especially for his range of passing TONY JAMES If only for his goal against Oxford that kept us in the old Div 2 MUZZY For his ability and loyalty LINEKER His best times after he left us but for helping to keep us on the map as one of the most prolific strikers of recent times and for being the figurehead for the consortium when needed HESKEY Not for any achievement on the pitch but for dipping his hand in his pocket when we needed it CLARIDGE I loved his style (or lack of it), his effort and his shinned goal against Palace THE ROOSTER Our super sub. For similar reasons to Claridge but without the shinned goal. Admittedly , perhaps not a true legend but just a personal favourite If this topics already been done to death accept my apologies and ignore

Geo V Posted 9 October 2007 Posted 9 October 2007 A legend should be someone like Stevie Walsh who has been at the club for a while and achieved plenty through performance. Players like Tony James who did get that goal that kept us up against Oxford (I was there) was a solid defender but was never a legend. If memory serves me he even let Alan Paris get the player of the season awards around that time which says something about our squads then

ithuriel Posted 9 October 2007 Posted 9 October 2007 if you are going to mention muzzy izzet then you have to mention niel lennon who was o'niells first signing if i remember and did not leave until well into peter taylors reign to rejoin o'niell at celtic. him and izzet were our midfield plus one other to make up the three we usually played with. i would also say garry parker , who was quality from the moment he joined us until his retirement and matty elliot , likewise. you can't really leave out iwan roberts either , our top scorer for three seasons during walshies injury years and then you have our two much maligned early on but steady wingbacks grayson and whitlow who appeared in a fair few wembley appearances for us and were part of our cup winning teams
