Simi Posted 13 October 2007 Posted 13 October 2007 Barry, I'm sure he wants it more than Lampard, plus he seems to complement Gerrard so much more than Lampard does. I hope McLaren doesn't bottle it and start with Lampard, I actually don't think he will though.
David Villa Posted 13 October 2007 Posted 13 October 2007 Got to be Barry, makes Gerrard play better and Barry is disciplined aswell because he will do his job not like Fat Frank, I would play any English centre mid of Lampard thought just so that you can get the best out of Gerrard.
lookwhaticando Posted 13 October 2007 Posted 13 October 2007 For once McClaren's decision won't have been made for him. It's uncanny the number of times he's had a tough decision made easy by having the player in question get crocked. Just think, if it wasn't for all the injuries to our main strikers... and the shittiness of the usual alternatives... he'd never have recalled Heskey, who demonstrated quite clearly the kind of partner Owen needs to succeed. Speaking of Heskey himself, that was another McClaren decision made easy... what to do when Rooney is fit again? Not to worry, Steve, I'm sure something will come up... like another timely injury.
Dagha_07 Posted 13 October 2007 Posted 13 October 2007 Gareth Barry all the way 3 MOM performances out of 3 hardly put a single foot wrong today.... deserves to start against Russia
Mikey Posted 13 October 2007 Posted 13 October 2007 Well to start with, don't drop Gerrard at all. Ever. And if it was in a straight battle Lampard or Barry, Lampard would maybe be slightly better. But Barry plays a lot nicer with Stevey G than any o our other contenders for CM. Also after Barrys recent performances it would be very harsh to drop and he has earned his place in the first team. All in all, I'd go for Barry
