MADLEVEIN Posted 1 March 2005 Posted 1 March 2005 if we was to beat blackburn/ burnley and reach the quarters along with man utd, arsenal tottenham or newcastle would we get into europe if a; tottenham or newcastle finish high enough in the prem to qualify b; newcastle win the eufa cup didnt know if it went to runners up of wortho cup, in which case liverpool would probably qualify via league position meaning watford would get as man utd will be in champions league again.
Simon Posted 1 March 2005 Posted 1 March 2005 No, I thought that if it has to go outside of the final of the cup competitions it just go's further down the league, and I think thats only with UEFA's say so. We would have to make the final to get into Europe I think.
TrickyTrev Posted 1 March 2005 Posted 1 March 2005 I think Simon is right, the places only stretch to the final if not they tranfer down to more places in the league. I may be wrong but I have a feeling the runner up in the uefa cup no longer gets a place in Europe, even if the other team has already qualified????

Stuliasz Posted 2 March 2005 Posted 2 March 2005 You definitely have to get to the final. Think about it, if it wasn't the final, Wycombe would have made it into Europe that year they knocked us out!
Sparky Posted 2 March 2005 Posted 2 March 2005 a few years ago newcastle qualified for uefa cup for reaching fa cup semi finals FACT but i think uefa told the fa that cant happen again
Simon Posted 2 March 2005 Posted 2 March 2005 A link to the FA's website where all these questions are answered: http://www.thefa.com/TheFA/NewsFromTheFA/P...alification.htm Its pretty much as we thought...
