THE FA CUP IS THE WORLDS MOST OLDEST AND FAMOUS CUP!!

I KNOW I CUD SUFFER ONE SEASON OF DIVISION ONE!!!

73747

Can you guarantee that, oh you mean like

Sheffield Wednesday- Champions 1903/03/29/30,

Huddersfield town - Champions 1923/24/25

Not counting the number of times they were runners up, the're are lots of other examples of teams taking years to return.

Life and football aren't that simple debdebdebdeb

73760

haha. i like you man.

anyway.

do u think that people in barcelona have heard of a team called LEICESTER

------ LEICESTER CITY WIN THE FA CUP ------------

now do u think people in barcelona have heard of a team called leicester?

all of a sudden , u can buy a leicester top when u r on holiday in spain!

73773

What, because we won the Cup once and are wallowing in division 1, you're nothing if not funny debdebdebdeb

73787

i like the way u say won the Cup once.

is not the Cup.

ITS "THE FA CUP". AND UR NAME GOES DOWN IN HISTORY FOREVER IF U WIN IT!!!!

73792

Unfortunately the only people who would care would be the supporters of LCFC no one else would gives us a second look as we ran out to play, if we still existed in front of a diehard crowd of 7000 in an echoing Tigers Stadium to play Colchester United et al

73819

The fact would still remain though Dave.

73821

A very hollow fact if you no longer exist as club and believe me the risk would be there if we got relegated again.

And you would be happy with that situation, relegation in exchange for the THE FA CUP - well I wouldn't, I've been waiting since 1961 and have seen them fail on 3 occasions but I'm also proud of the fact that we are one of a very few teams that have never been outside the top 2 divisions.

73836

treat pride like metaphorical food. and swallow it

73843

Well I could say the same to you re the FA Cup all it gives you is a bit of short term pride ( i.e. about 2 months) and a note in a football history book, but you would still being playing the likes of Colchester in front of 7000 in the Tigers Stadium, I think that would be a bit to big to swallow thank you ;)

true. but theres two sheffield teams in sheffield.

Leicester is a huge city, with one team

73756

What difference does that make, Bristol is big so are Hull size does not guarantee status.

73765

Bristol has two teams also!

73768

I know that Katy, but the're bloody big and can't get a team above Division 2 hence size doesn't guarantee success, blimey I thought all girls knew that

73782

That may have something to do with the size of the club though (which does matter) Bristol may be a big city but their football clubs havent exactly set the world alight have they?

73789

I believe that was the point I was trying to make Big City doesn't equal big success.

73799

I believe it was but neither Bristols are classed as 'big clubs' well not as big as Leicester.

73808

The fact that they aren't big and are in a big City was my point :o . Because debdumbe suggested that LCFC being a BIG City would walk out of Division one with ease for no other reason than that we are a BIG City - which is absolute nonsense.

73824

disagree.

im saying leicester wud have more potential to get themselves up the leagues, more so than the likes of colchester, as u mentioned.

very few big teams are in low leagues for long.

its alot about money these days and u know it.

-didnt enjoy the word play on my name at all :)

73831

Well of course we have more potential than Colchester, unfortunately Potential doesn't guarantee success, Wolves wallowed around in the lower leagues for a long time so have others. Besides we would have a greater financial burdon to overcome, if you think dropping from the Prem to the Championship was hard you couldn't guess how difficult it would be to drop into Div 1.

73844

surely guaranteed success is #### boring

73847

Well that's something, as an LCFC supporter you'll never have to worry about

sorry to keep disagreeing, but 2 months, no way. it wud be the most memorable year in my football fans life, barring an England world cup victory.

i know the world cup is obviously better, but surely u still treasure seeing england win in 1966, and that didnt last 2 months, 2 years, the glory of that ss going to last all ur life, and years after

Well I voted yes. Cause the money we would get for winning the cup would be perhaps 2 - 3 million with prize and TV money + uefa next season. Its a big gamble but we would buzzing and beat the shite out of div 1. Could get claridge and cotte back upfront. They would kill that division even though Cotte's prob older than davieg now

Now, now let's not get personal, anyway I'd thought your namesake would've been the first one you wanted back.

We've got Stan Collymore, We've got Stan Collymore, We've got Stan Collymore, We've got Stan Collymore, We've got Stan Collymore, We've got Stan Collymore, We've got Stan Collymore, We've got Stan Collymore, We've got Stan Collymore, We've got Stan Collymore,

73849

keep chewing on it, and ur saliva breaks it down. oh no, thats real food.

sorry to keep disagreeing, but 2 months, no way. it wud be the most memorable year in my football fans life, barring an England world cup victory.

i know the world cup is obviously better, but surely u still treasure seeing england win in 1966, and that didnt last 2 months, 2 years, the glory of that ss going to last all ur life, and years after

73864

Alright fair point but I would also be inconsolable if we ended up in Div 1,

PS, Yes sorry about the name thing it's just such a pain writing it out or copying :ermm:

73871

Im sporting a new name thanks to katy. its plain and simple D4

73879

I thought it was to indicate the Division you'd be happy play in, in exchange for winnig the FA Cup.

73886

woh, the boys good!

anyways i must thankyou for a thoroughly enjoyable debate.

73888

Yes I enjoyed it to, thanks to you and Katy, no nastiness either, well apart from my debdedumb crack ;)

Easy, no but finish as FA Cup finalists to say Arsenal and get into Europe like Millwall did this season. I know the FA Cup is not like the League Cup but when we won the League Cup I was probably more happy about being in Europe than actually winning the trophy.

its a yes from me, but id love just to go to the final with city.

i would have a tear in my eye singing abide by me as city come out.

73892

Now, now let's not get personal, anyway I'd thought your namesake would've been the first one you wanted back.

We've got Stan Collymore, We've got Stan Collymore, We've got Stan Collymore, We've got Stan Collymore, We've got Stan Collymore, We've got Stan Collymore, We've got Stan Collymore, We've got Stan Collymore, We've got Stan Collymore, We've got Stan Collymore,

Davie, i would give up an FA cup final and be relegated to the vauxhall if I thought we could get Colly back. Unfortunatly he has chose to pursue a career as James Bond and we have to respect that
