leicesterweb Posted 4 March 2005 Posted 4 March 2005 Leicester City's Fosse Gold strip is now officially the club's biggest-selling away kit ever. Foxes fans have snapped up more than 8,500 shirts - making it the most popular non-blue kit launched by the club. And with City wearing the kit for a third successive FA Cup tie in the quarter final at Blackburn next Sunday, sales are expected to break through the 10,000 mark. Retail manager Ben Swift said: "We've been delighted with the interest and the response to the kit. "Our previous best away selling kit was the black which sold 7,000 in its first season last year. "But although we are only just into March we have surpassed that figure by more than 1,500 additional sales this time around with the Fosse Gold." City admit that the strip - launched last June to commemorate the club's 120th anniversary - came as a shock to some fans. And said Swift: "It's a big departure from our previous colour schemes but is adopting cult status. "We have had some excellent results when our players have worn it in the FA Cup and in the Championship. "I think our fans also appreciate the fact that it is a reversible shirt and offers excellent value for money." Fosse Gold shirts are currently retailing at just £15 adults and £10 juvenile sizes.

A bit of a kick in the teeth for anyone who paid the full price
