Bert Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 Move See's An "Unforseen Circumstance" Wigan have had to delay the unveiling of Steve Bruce as their new manager because of "unforeseen circumstances". Bruce, who has left his post as Birmingham boss to take up the job at the JJB Stadium, was expected to be presented to the media on Wednesday. But Wigan chief executive Brenda Spencer said "an issue between Birmingham and Steve" had caused the move to be put on hold. She added that the club hoped to have appointed a manager by the weekend. "The club are confident that the situation, which is beyond their control, will be resolved quickly and the club will be in a position to make an announcement in the very near future," said a club statement. Spencer confirmed Bruce was scheduled to sign his contract in Wigan on Wednesday morning and that chairman Dave Whelan was "very upset". She reiterated that Bruce remains their first choice candidate to replace Chris Hutchins but that nothing would happen for at least 24 hours. "We thought we would be announcing the new manager this afternoon and, as you all know, it was going to be Steve Bruce," said Spencer. "Unfortunately something has come up. It is an issue between Birmingham and Steve and, until it is resolved, we cannot announce him as our new manager. "Our chairman is desperate that we have a manager in place and he is hopeful that something will happen in the next 24 hours.
Simi Posted 21 November 2007 Author Posted 21 November 2007 Sounds like Brum are intent on pissing Wigan off as well. Things like this will continue to occur with the amount of managers coming and going.
