Refereeing - A hard job.

Right, I'm sick and tired of referee's being the centre of attention, and people discussing the referee performance rather than the game.

The pathetic penalty yesterday, the penalty's in the Tottenham v Birmingham game, the Robbie Keane sending off today.

I'm the first to admit Referee's have a very hard job, which is why they need help, it's been discussed time and time again, pros and cons have been noted, but TV Replay or something needs to be bought in.

Also I think it should be made compulsory referees do TV Interviews.

For example, According to Holloway's interview on Radio Leicester he went on the pitch at the end of the game, shook the referee's hand and said "I wanna see you in a minute" Holloway then said in his interview he had gone to see the referee and he had gone, so the referee has not even had the balls to explain his decisions in private to the manager. Holloway then followed up by saying he'll be speaking to the head of referees and in time speaking to yesterdays referee.

I'm not blaming the referee for us losing yesterday, we were poor, we deserved to lose, but the referee was certainly a big factor in us losing, without the referees pathetic decision we may have got away with a draw, we wouldn't have deserved it but other teams have played and got away with what they didn't deserve.

Well i'm just reiterating that something needs to be done with the pathetic referees in the game, such as TV Replays, or even TV Interviews so referees have to explain there decisions.

Possible. Although Hawk-Eye is something that would tell you if the ball was over the line or not correct? Which is something that is needed but its not just necessarily those decisions. i.e - Penalty's Hawk-Eye would sort that problem. i.e - Sending off/Fouls again Hawk-Eye would sort that problem either.

What you say is all well and fine.

But I tell you now, there is no win for the referees ever.

You say referees should come out and do interviews. First of all, I've heard so many times that referees are trying to take the spotlight on the pitch and that you should never notice the referee. Now the idea has come about to make them do interviews? I'm sorry but that will help nobody. Imagine the media getting hold of the interviews every week, criticizing them until the sun goes down. Then no doubt the managers will want there say and it will spiral from there into a complete farce.

I do agree with you however that referees should speak individually to the managers. This would help to clear the air in some situations, but it still descends into a complete farce in the media. That's not a direct criticism of Holloway though.

I'm still very hesitant to accept the chance to have video technology. The way modern football is at the moment, I can just see how the whole thing will unfold. "This decsion is sponsored by Budweiser". The marketing opportunity would be to big to turn down for some clubs to turn down, sadly. Once again ripping the heart out and becoming more like a money maker than anything else. Also it will just make the gap even bigger between the Premiership clubs and everyone else, which is the last thing we need at the moment.

If the gap keeps on getting bigger, we all know what the next step is for the big clubs don't we? 'Super Leagues'

Please no it would slow everything down and i like controversy in football when it is not against your own team
