davieG Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 From OS Leicester City's reserve side will be back in action once again when they take on West Bromwich Albion at Kidderminster Harriers on Wednesday evening (7pm). It will be the second string's first game since they went down 4-0 at the hands of Nottingham Forest at the City Ground in mid-December. But reserve team manager Gerry Taggart says It will be a very different looking side that will be taking on the Baggies at Aggborough. He said: "We are coming into a run of reserve games now on the back of a break, and we are really looking forward to it. "We have actually been given a squad of players that we can work with now, so that's what we have been doing this week. "We are going to use the reserve team to blood the young, up and coming players and also the guys that are already on the fringes of the first team. So you could be looking at the likes of Andy King, Lee Cox, Ashley Chambers and Billy McKay all being involved. "Basically, we see the reserve team as a stopping stone from the youth team up to the first team. The more young players we can blood the better as far as I am concerned. "But it is also important to get a good blend. We are looking for a good mix of experience and youth. "We have played West Brom twice already this season and we have won one and lost one so far so it promises to be an interesting game."

Has the OS come up with a report on the Academy top of the table clash with Aston Villa? I could only watch the first half and we were losing and looking second best. My impression was that much of the side were still suffering from going to extra-time against Palace in the FA Youth Cup. But I've seen no mention of the eventual outcome nor any report. Villa were top of the table and beat City 5-0 earlier in the season.
davieG Posted 16 January 2008 Author Posted 16 January 2008 From OS Leicester City's Pontin's Central League clash at West Bromwich Albion scheduled for this evening has been postponed because of a waterlogged pitch. A pitch inspection at lunchtime deemed the surface unplayable. The game will now be played at a later date.

Ultra Posted 16 January 2008 Posted 16 January 2008 There was a brief report of the Academy game in Monday's Mercury.
